Obvious.....
He already set his own price tag at about $8 million per year, so no, it didn't just go up.

Did it go up? No, but now we will need to negotiate more along the lines of what VD is seeking and not what we originally wanted to pay him. So the settled price after negotiations went up.
VD deserves it though, through and through! Yeah he only had the "stats" to back his price tag for one year, but the dude has been a beast in whatever role he has been asked to fulfill. He will be THE face of the offense! I love Gore but his time is much more limited than a TE and who knows what happens with Alex in the future.
A team with P-Willy leading by example on defense and VD leading by example on offense ensures that we maximize the potential of all our draft picks and other players. The Coach has very little power in the locker room, players hold each other accountable, and if you have arguably the two best players at their position setting the example in the locker room both their contracts are worth every penny!

Pay the man...if he keeps up his "good behavior" (not counting going to Puerto Rico for hookas) and ups his game up even more this year.
