It's great that you took the time to fully read my post. Indeed, Thomas went to the Super Bowl four times (eclipsing 50 yards rushing yards in just one game I might add). However, I was comparing Thomas' first five seasons' with Gore's. In this regard, their statistics compare well.
I wasn't comparing him to Barry Sanders. I was merely pointing out Detroit's inability to exceed the first round of the playoffs. The 49ers playoff drought is comparable.
And now that you've brought up Roger Craig, let's take a look at each player's statistics through five seasons.
Roger Craig, RB (SF)
Frank Gore, RB (SF)
This comparison really isn't fair, mostly due to the talent surrounding Craig during his prime.
However, Gore eclipses Craig in all purpose yards by 89. To say Gore doesn't compare to Craig is just incorrect.
