I'll give him credit for having a winning record to date. That said for me to be sold on Singletary this team needs to take the next step in 2010 . . . meaning a Division Title.
This,
I just love his ability to motivate, BUT I just hate his understanding of X and Os!
Not Sold, but tempted to buy in!
What, exactly, do we know about his understanding of X's and O's?
Just based on his playing career, and his reputation as an undersized but intense and cerebral HOF MLB, I'd wager that he knows far more than the average fan, far more than you (and me) about X's and O's.
Seems like this particular criticism is based more on ignorance than fact.
How many times did his Bears play against the Niners back then? So he prepared, as the QB of the Bears defense, to play against Montana and the original WCO at its best.
Doesn't it seem likely that he studied that offense and knew it inside and out? He probably knows as much about the WCO and all its X's and O's as anybody.

If nobody can predict anything then why would I listen to him? I should listen to another person b***h about Sing and take it to heart...sorry but I am talented enough to form my own opinions. For the record I never predicted anything so you can take your comment and shove it.

Say what you want about his clock management but there were less than a handful of WTFs that stick with me. Using all the timeouts / challenges was the biggest one.
Contrast that to Nowin where EVERY half had at least 2 WTFs.
The team has a clear direction.
Bigger, Stronger, Faster, Badass Mofos
Davis, Iupati, Mays, Dixon, the TE Guy Byham. Even FASTER is being reconciled with Ginn, Vann, and Williams
All the talk about missing the big names in Free Agency like Rolle, the plan has been to resign our own guys. We started that today with Willis
The Pain
All the Chicken Littles were having their roost when Scotty was jettisoned along with a barrel of Jamesons
Now those Chicken Littles are eating CROW after Trent's Dance of Joy Offseason so far
The videos of Dixon are impressive
Sing has turned around guys like Davis and Brooks
Now Boone is starting to harnass his potential
He went on scouting trips to look players in the eye -- I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one of those stares

i'm with you on this! i absolutely hate it when people say... i don't support him cause he doesn't know about x's and o's...
1st he's a hall of famer as a middle linebacker... the linebacker knows the most about the opposing offense more then any other defensive player on the team.
2nd he played in the nfl, college, high school and prolly pop warner/ pal football all of his life. what would he NOT know about x's and o's?
3rd he's a HOF! he was one of the best at his position especially in his era playing against the best offenses ever put together!
i could go on and on.... you guys are blind idiots if you think he don't know his x's and o's!

Did you not see the Falcons game? It was one of the worst plan events since George Armstrong Custer said " Leave the gatling guns behind, we need to get to the little big horn fast!" Sing is a great motivator but if you think he is any kind of high IQ football guru....Sorry to disappoint you.
He's a lot of Mike Ditka, and no Bill Walsh!
Plenty of coaches have won on inspiration alone, many have won on pure Xs and Os, but the very few who do both well are on a short list in Canton Ohio!
Lombardi, Walsh, Shula.... Singletarry? no not buying that!

No one is saying he is the next "genius", after all there is only one Walsh.
Sing, despite being coached by Ditka and Ryan, sought out Walsh to learn from him.
That shows to me that Sing, despite his HOF, is humble and has a thirst for learning.
A guitarist seeks out the greatest guitarist, in order to learn from them.
Bruce Lee was always a student of other martial arts.
What coaches today could / would Sing want to learn from?
Bellicheat?

Two things that completely piss me off about Singletary are:
-his HORRIBLE in-game management, just terrible with the timing and execution
-his lack of knowledge for the proper game plan each week--i liked how we would go into the game running into a brick wall against a good run D and come out the second airing it desperado style --then against a team (Seahawks) that Gore completely destroyed, we came out tossing the ball over 50 times and ended up losing.
Did you actually post this on the very day we lock up Willis?....
Players want to play for Singletary. They believe because of Singletary. He isn't perfect, but he's learning. We are putting together a squad that can compete eve with the most elite teams. Our defense is respected around the league. Remeber when we use to give up 40 and 50 points a game only a few years back? Some of your points are valid, but I think you assume he isn't going to learn from his mistakes. Thats a mistake.
No point in complaining. Sing isn't going anywhere.

I am simply amazed that you are not employed by an NFL front office with such powerful analysis such as this.

Coach sing has given us a non losing season. The first in a long time and now you don't like him. Well I like him and think that he still has things to learn but, he is our coach and I will support all the way to the playoffs and hopefully to a SB win. GO NINERS
