and still think that he could be replaced--let it be known who you are.
Two things that completely piss me off about Singletary are:
-his HORRIBLE in-game management, just terrible with the timing and execution
-his lack of knowledge for the proper game plan each week--i liked how we would go into the game running into a brick wall against a good run D and come out the second airing it desperado style --then against a team (Seahawks) that Gore completely destroyed, we came out tossing the ball over 50 times and ended up losing.
Great. We finally got a HC who appears to have a clue, has the team moving in the right direction, has his own vision of how the team should look and play, actually drafts players who fit that vision, and--at long, long last--there appears to be just a smidgen of hope on the horizon. . .
and someone not only wants to get rid of the HC, he wants others to join in some kinda circle jerk about how they don't like the HC.
Only in Niner Talk.
2006 Nolan's 49ers were better than last year's 49ers. Why? we overchieved that year, by a whole lot! that was the year when we were supposed to get the #1 draft pick again. Last year, we had much talent on the team and barely scraped out 1 more win. We lost the season mid way, again.
I support Singletary but just isn't sold on him. His in-game timeouts have always been seen as a joke to me. I liked how he called the time out in that one game and next play we gave a touchdown. I am just saying the jury is still out on that dude.
Sorry, I respectfully disagree. Nolan's 06 team was no better, and their record showed it. Yes, once Nolan took over the defense it improved, and with Norv running the offense, it was at least organized and took advantage of Nate Allen's last productive year. But it was a patchwork performance, at best. There was no vision of where the team was going, or of how to get there.
Nolan himself, when he took over the defense from Billy Davis, switched to a 4-3 from a 3-4, and then went right back to preaching that we're a 3-4. Or a "hybrid." Then he benched/cut the guys who had made the defense work for him the year before. Until he settled on his "big sub" defense--which sucked and was boring as hell to watch--he wasn't consistent with what he wanted to do, even on defense (his area of expertise), or with how he wanted to do it. No wonder the team looked confused and disheartened most of the time.
Does Singletary have things to learn? Sure. Will he improve? I expect so. Is this the time to be calling for a change in HC? Doesn't seem like it. Irrespective of the record, Singletary's teams are more aggressive on both sides of the ball, in better condition, and one hell of alot more fun to watch than anything Nolan put out there.
If we go worse than 8-8 next season, and Singletary's game management isn't better than this year, then maybe revisit your points.
But at present this sounds like you're just looking for reasons to criticize Singletary. Straining out gnats and swallowing camels, as the saying goes.

You are a negative guy. Give him a chance. It's only his second full year.

Your like the dude in Shallow Hal that has a girl who is way out of his league but still nitpicks about her Lieutenant toe being longer than the big toe. Are you serious??? Of all the good things he brings to the team and all the players that want to play for him and all the players that noone else can get to play he motivates them and you are gonna complain about timeouts and game plans?
Sure he can improve in those areas which is another thing that should impress you about him is he wants to and is willing to work hard to be the best at what he is doing, but the fact that you aren't "sold on him" because of that is just crazy. I bet if someone studied your life they could find a whole bunch of things wrong with you as well and I bet the people that do see your faults are a lot more patient with you when you try to improve at things you have never done before. Take a chill pill and give the guy a break.

Nobody should be sold until he takes us to the playoffs. He inherited a much better team than what Nolan had to work with. And if the QB situation is still the reason we don't make it into the playoffs then I wouldn't mind showing him the door, he's had 2 seasons to address that issue. And I hate the rookie HC excuse, he talked about making the playoffs and he failed on that, why let it slide?

Singletary "inherited a much better team than what Nolan had to work with?????" Huh?
Seems, to me, that Singletary took over the exact same team that Nolan had. Took over mid season. The team began to show improvements almost right away, with the same players.
Added Crabtree after five games the following season and, uh, Coffee, and, uh, . . . tell me again how it was a "much better team than what Nolan had to work with."
Its better now, because Singletary has made it better, developing Franklin, Brooks, VD, Alex Smith, Goldson, and others. But those guys were on the team under Nolan as well.
Sorry, but it seems to me that you're giving Singletary short shrift for what he has accomplished in a relatively short time.

You people must be from the school of instant gratification. If someone doesn't live up to your expectations, they suck and will never get better. There is some serious lack of depth of thought that goes into many of these off season threads.

Actually, we got better when Franklin started playing like a stud mid season and it effected the rest of our D positively. You do realize that Nolan was the one that brought in Franklin, Willis, Brooks, J. Smith, Clements, etc...right? Basically, I give Singletary credit for Vernon Davis and maybe, Alex Smith, that is it!

Did they get banned or what? I haven't seen them trolling for a while.
Edit: Never mind I checked they both got banned a while ago. Those two (if it wasn't the same person to start with) were both obviously here for the sole purpose of flaming Niner Talk.
