brian jennings should be an option.
long snapper IS an important position, specialised by a select few in the NFL, and an even selcter few who can do it well. plugging in a regular center if the LS gets injured usually never works out well. timing and chemistry between the LS, holder and kicker takes a while to develop and can't be done ad-lib.
making the playoffs could come down to making a simple field goal late in a game/overtime and if it gets botched by a replacement LS, we'll realise the importance of a good LS (same goes for a botched punt snap).

Robert, half the WZ will kick your ass if the winner of this poll gets injured in the upcoming season.

I don't think this team can afford to have any injuries at this point. We are still trying to add bodies.

Ironically, I actually think it's Alex Smith. I'm not the biggest Smith supporter, but given the importance of the position and lack of depth at the position, he may be our most "valuable" starter.
This guy A Smith is the least of the Niners worries concerning injury.
I think the draft this year really put the team in a great position to cover injuries throughout the O, D & ST. I don't think there's a drop-off between Smith and Carr, even though Carr hasn't played yet in this highly advanced Raye-Gun system. (har-d-har). Plus Nate needs some reps now, it's time. I'm not saying in live games, but this pre-season, just in case, he is needed.
In my mind there are 2 players we could ill afford to lose; Willis & DE Smith. Though we now have players to step in, their energy-motors would be sorely missed. Lord forbid this happens. Usually high motor players get less hurt from what I've seen, coz they're less likely to be standing around a play and get blindsided and be not ready to be hit..
Going to be a fun year to watch the Niners..
GO NINERS!!
