Countdown to Santa Clara Stadium vote: Election Day!

I have only been to one game at Candlestick and it was the worse traffic jam I have ever been in (took us around 3 hours just to get out of the parking lot) so the traffic cannot be any worse if the team plays in Santa Clara, in fact I heard it will be a lot more convenient for fans. Fact is the city of San Francisco has dragged it's feet and really has blown up for the 49ers for 10+ years about getting a new stadium and now its to late and I hope the 49ers get their stadium in Santa Clara.

Unless you like:
  • PERSONAL SEAT LICENSES!! And, there WILL be PSLs ... guaranteed!!
  • Sharing a stadium with the Raiders
  • NO Monday or Thursday night games (Yorks have already said okay to this)
  • NO dedicated parking
  • Games directly UNDER the flight path -- hope you like LOTS of noise!!
  • Awful, if any, tailgating because there is no centralized parking
  • Being stuck in HOURS of traffic
  • TV Blackouts ... if all the PSLs are not sold, NO ONE will see a game on TV within 75 miles

No one is willing to talk about the truth of the impact on the fans of a new stadium in Santa Clara! It is a stupid proposal that is half-baked and not thought through at all!! Better pray that it fails!! The only one that will win are the Yorks - the team, the fans and the residents of Santa Clara are going to be HUGE losers!!

why do you say that? Nothing he said seems out of the realm of possibility.

No but I did hear that on Sundays fans will use the parking lot that is used for businesses during the week. On mondays and thursdays, the parking lot is already being used by the businesses already there.

No Monday or Thursday night games would suck. Alot.

Back again for another drive by post? Let's try this again . . . as if you'll rebut . .

* PSL's are a fact of life for any new stadium financing plan.

* Sharing a stadium with the Raiders wouldn't be the worst thing one you get past the emotional response . . . even so it's not a given.

* Weekday night games will be tough on local businesses that would be required to clear out their employee lots by 3PM. BTW Great America shuts down on weekdays starting in September and shuts down completely on November 1st for the winter . Based on the 2010 schedule there would be four conflicts with the Great America operating schedule including pre-season and assuming the Denver game was NOT played in London. In the case of the four conflicts I'd imagine a deal could be cut to compensate Great America for shutting down. $$$$ talks.

* Directly under the flight path??? . . . true . . . but now you're reaching for s**t. I've been to training camp and Great America and it ain't that bad.

* Stuck in hours of traffic might be the most ridiculous argument. First, who doesn't expect to get stuck in traffic when traveling to or from a game? Second, if you want to see a traffic clusterf**k just put 70K people on Hunters Point at once and see how well it works with three miles of city surface streets to travel between the proposed stadium and 101 or 280.

Nice try

If the new Giants and Cowboys stadiums are an indication they should be anywhere from 1K to 20K depending on the location.
I would sacrifice Monday and Thursday games as bad as it sounds to keep our Niners in the Bay which is interesting considering LA would be a quick strike from AZ. I think this is the most important aspect of this argument it just needs to get done, do it and the Niners are cemented into SF Bay forever as of now anything could happen...

It's an option that I think will never happen. We should be fine with just one team in there.
