They were talking on NFLN and they said we would make it as long as Alex steps up.
Said we have built the team and give Alex every weapon he needs.
I agree with him, besides the dominant D we have, we need Alex to step up.
Dukes said we can get in for sure especially with the 2 new maulers(Davis and Iupati).

I think even if alex steps up, it still falls on the defense. (and jimmy rayes play calling)We can only get so far with a predictable offense.

Yes, but if Raye persists with his former predictable playcalling and continues to put Alex in the hole with many third and longs, there are guys on this forum who will continue to blame the mediocre results on Alex. Even the best QBs need help from their OC.

if the run game improves even marginally, then that'll open things up for alex and hopefully improve 3rd downs. We need to be just as good in the division and just a bit better on the road.

Yes, if our offensive line dramatically improves as well as Alex Smith stepping up his game, chances are we have a good shot at the playoffs.
It's rocket science.

Its wasn't the play calling as much as it was execution. Our guys were getting ZERO push on the line of scrimmage. The Panthers ran it down everyones throat a few seasons ago. Its not because they ran the wildcat or because they had a bunch of trickery in their bag. They executed better than the teams they were playing and if Delhomme doesn't throw the game against the cards maybe the run all the way to the SB that year.

Alex has consistently improved each and every year. And on this particular season he will have the same OC and a revamped O-line. No reason we shouldn't expect him to finish among the top ten QBs.

It amazes me how some fans crticizes the OC who enabled Alex to have his best season ever. Alex has to produce and he is capable of it. He just has to be more consistent.
