I just read this article and all I can think of is “damn, I wish it was 1988 again”.
Jerry Rice is the reason I’m a football fan and the reason I’m a 49ers fan, there’s no two ways about it. I was about 6 or 7 the first time I saw him play and that was it, I was a fan for life. It was of course, before the internet, but I sought out every magazine I could find with his pictures on them and absolutely plastered my room with them. I poured over the statistics he was racking up and saw the projections of just how badly he was going to shatter every record. Even on the pace that he was setting, I don’t think anyone could have predicted just how far out of reach he was going to put them. The man just played so well for so long, even after his knee injury he was able to put up stats.
I became a fan of a lot of other Niners of course, but Jerry will always be the one I call my favorite. I feel blessed to have seen him play at the top of his game.

Yah great story.
Just think we would have Eddie Brown instead of Rice. Just amazing how stuff happens.

Awesome story. Funny how he was the 16th pick when all along it was his destiny to be hooked up with our very own number 16!
