Yes. He has been an absolute stud this year thus far.

Nice work as usual, Karma... Very entertaining and interesting post.
I think what it shows is that this team has more talent than most of us realized, now that it is actually being developed by an excellent coaching staff.
What is funny to me is that before the season started, the team seemed to have pretty big questions everywhere.....DE, NT, CB, OG, QB, WR, S, etc. Now, it appears that in reality, there are very few really large holes. Certainly bodes well for the future. This is a young team overall too!!
Cheers!

He certainly isn't the top LT many thought he would be, but that might be the toughest position to land a stud. Staley has proven that he might give up a bad play or two, but he won't be dominated by any player. Sure, if we had a chance at a Walter Jones type player I'd jump at it, but for now he is a Core guy because of his leadership makes them better and he always gives us a chance.

Ahmad Brooks is really, REALLY close to being a Core guy. He just needs to prove he can make it last. He has always had outstanding games followed by a month of nothing. If he plays at this level all season, we are set there for years.

Thank you! It's amazing how much you can write about your team when: a. They are winning and b. You actually have something else to do.

Any thoughts on these evaluations several games later?

I think you need to consider moving Alex and Ted Ginn into the core guy slot. The field positions we get from Ginn are invaluable. He may or may not develop as the wide receiver he was drafted to be, but his return skills justify his roster spot on their own.

Crabtree is not a core player as of right now and especially when this was posted. He's an up and comer at best considering his production. He's started more games than any wr on the roster and hasn't really done much. To me he could even be expendable just because I look around the league and see rookie wrs doing much better than him.

Alex is working his way into being a core guy. He should be relatively easy to resign. The reason he didn't make it to "Core" Guy staturs is because the team could move on without him is a year or two. His leadership has been invaluable and he seems to improve every game, so we will see. He is closer to being a core guy now then he was on the day I wrote this.
Ted Ginn is very valuable, but I think the consistently good field position is more a product of Seely's coaching of the Units and game plans. Don't get me wrong, Ginn is an above average returner, but I don't see a huge drop off we we brought in another sure handed vet.

You might be right. That might have been more wishful thinking. The only argument I have now is that he and Alex seem to be getting better and better chemistry. Crabtree is also an underrated blocker. We'll see as this season plays out.

I'm a huge Goldson fan, but doubt he'll be around next season. He'll probably want too much money.

Golson may not be here. However, the new and improved 49ers will attract quality FA. I trust Baalke to make the best decision for the team.
He didn't overpay for Franklyn and dumped over rated Clements, Lawson. Losing Baas and Spikes has worked out fine.
