if S. Mc. steps down, what I hope, he won't, get Holmgren (if he is still available, didn't follow it recently).

If we call it something else, like the Paraag Marathe GM Gondola, or the Paraag Pontoon, then I might be down.

How about the Paraag Marathe for GM Indian Elephant?
The only reasons why I would want Marathe as GM is because he's Indian and to have Ralph Barbeiri squirt milk through his nose in disgust.

I really hope we have someone like Bill Cowher or one of those great ex coaches in line to run things. Cowher would only be a final check of the Scouting lists and of the head coach.

WE MUST HAVE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE IN AND OUTS OF FOOTBALL AS THE GM. Not a number cruncher who over-rided Bill Walsh because the numbers crunched out right.

We need a guy who understands the coaching scheme and which players fit the best.

This franchise didn't win 5 superbowls because we tried to get the most value for the buck or did not over pay someone.

And then we were introduced to Salary Cap Hell, funding a new stadium and a recession.

Paraag Marathe is clearly best suited for today's San Fransisco 49er's front office. An intelligent football mind is why we have Singeltary, his entire staff and Keena Turner for.

This is Mike Singeltary's version of Rahm Emmanuel.

Young, brilliant, guy who's race is unintelligible to white people.

Post Salary Cap: Name how many teams won the superbowl that didn't have high priced players on it. Just about every team that won the superbowl had issue retaining the players that contributed to that win due to salary.

You must spend money to win it all and Salary Cap only constricts the number of years you can retain that roster in the long run but it won't keep a team from acquiring that type of talent.

putting paraag in charge would be a Donahue type disaster. everytime this team takes a step forward, they go and do something like this and take two steps back again. this whole front office needs to be cleaned out. owners too. sell the freakin team to someone who has half a brain and a set of balls.

There’s a suspicion among those in the McCloughan camp – and other sources familiar with the team’s front-office politics – that Paraag Marathe, the Niners’ vice president of football operations, pushed for the move as an attempt to gain more power.

Marathe, a Cal grad who earned his MBA from Stanford, is known for his “Moneyball” style philosophy of player evaluation, favoring empirical analysis over the more intuitive and subjective elements of scouting. He’s also close with Jed York and is regarded as the team president’s No. 1 confidante in the organization.
