This is not a thread about who should be our QB.
Back in early 07', Alex had a season ending injury. Mike Nolan decided to put Trent Dilfer in as our backup. Nolan had absolutely no concept of evaluating talent. Dilfer stunk it up for most of the season, until he got knocked out against the Vikings.
Every 9er fan began to think "Oh god, our 3rd string QB is coming in". We all figured that because Hill was a 3rd string QB, he was going to be worse than Dilfer. Hill came in against the Vikings and threw for a touchdown, and also ran for a touchdown.
He went on to beat the Begnals and Bucaneers, which basically SAVED Mike Nolan's JOB. So what does nolan do the next season? He made Shaun Hill the 3rd string QB behind Alex Smith and JT O' Sullivan. Once Singletary took over, he made Hill the started for the remainder of the 08' season.
Hill was taken out after the TEAM had a bad half against the Texans. It wasn't just Shaun Hill who was playing poorly. And that was it...
When I think of Shaun Hill, one play comes to mind; 3rd and long in Arizona on Monday Night, Hill ran 12 yards for a first down. He got hit by 2 Cardinals, got his helmet knocked off, and dove for the first down. Thats what type of player he is.
Personally, I am going to miss Shaun Hill. His play wasn't pretty, but he truly has heart. Anybody else gonna miss having him on the team?
P.S. Anybody have the video of him getting his helmet knocked off against the Cardinals?

I always liked Shaun Hill. I never thought he was going to lead us to greatness, but I respected his tenacity. No one's ever given him anything on a silver platter; he's had to prove doubters wrong since college. I hope he's able to land a starting job somewhere else, and is actually given some respect for once.

And Smith played 3 games with a broken shoulder. People (selectively) forget about that.

a small spark in the dark ages. Nothing more. But what makes him special is usually we have to pay up the ass for a small spark.
If we had half a dozen more Shaun Hills and Walt Harris' the drought would be over.

no it doesn't....only to the fake childish 9er fans, who are just overall disrespectful....most likely in real life as well.
Being a 9er fan, I am embarrassed of these idiots representing my beloved 49ers online.....but I understand that every other team has their own, so I try to accept it.

He's been down on the depth chart nearly his whole career. I'm glad he at least had some time to show us that he can step in and win...unlike Dilfer and JTO who bombed at their chances to start. I would've really liked to keep Hill as a veteran back up who can step in when needed, big mistake letting him go.
Thanks Shaun Hill. I wish you success wherever you go.

When I think of shaun hill, I think of the first 5 ish games of the 09 season.
Every series we looked like s**t, except for like 3 magical drives a game where we would score a TD, but each pass hill threw looked like it was a knuckleball about to be picked off.
Every game he missed wide open passes to wr's that were running like 5 yard patterns.
Even that deep bomb he threw to issaac bruce, was behind the WR, slow ass bruce had to wait for the ball.
HE had leadership, but he was nothing more than a backup.
