Saftey: Can we make a run at Atogwe?
So who's to say that analysis hasn't been done? I mean it's not just depth, players need to fit our system and you don't want to upset the locker room any more than it has been already. There is something to be said for team chemistry. You saw the effect just talking to Carr had. What if you found out that coaches didn't like anything they've seen? What if Singletary said he doesn't really see the upgrade in any of those guys over who he has? I think before we immediately assume "we aren't doing enough" before we see a plan. Timing is also important. Why overpay for someone now when chances are they will be available after the draft. I have a feeling that's why many of these guys are still available.
I'm really, really hard on Scott, but I'm willing to wait to see the plan unfold. We'll know in the next 40 days. If it's a perceived failure and we haven't done anything to upgrade (IMHO the most important area) the OL, I will come after Scott with both barrels. Let's just see where this takes us. I think it's a little early to declare defeat.....
at least not yet.

Obviously we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. All we can discuss is what has/hasnt happened up until this point. Like I've said many, many, many times before, I'm just a fan. I dont take myself that serious. There is nothing wrong with speculating, it's everyone else on the board that turns ever topic into life or death. We're talking football, not abortions...

Whether its football or abortions, most cant talk about either without sounding like impatient nimrods at times.
Since I know the last 2 sentences were directed at my post, let me say this:
There is nothing wrong with having a healthy discussion about a topic where everyone involved can give a thought out, informed opinion. Its when the subjects become repetitive and the insessant whining begins that I get irritated while reading it and feel the need to jump in.
Ever since I've joined this board there has been nothing but hate spewed at McCloughan, Smith, Singletary, the Yorks, etc. And almost everyone who has something negative to say either, has no idea whats going on, cant comprehend how the team got to this point or even know the timeline of events that occured. Example: saying Scotty needs to go, its been 8 years of losing already!!
Really??? I didnt know McCloughan, Singletary and Smith have been here that long.
Not one Alex hater can make a competent argument against him with facts that truly support it without bias. Other than that he was a #1 overal pick and hasnt broken every single passing record, won 98% of his games and won 4 superbowls by now.
Not one Scott McCloughan hater likes to acknowledge that the man has helped to sign, signed, helped to draft or drafted 14 of the 49ers starters. And since his role increased only 2 seasons ago...I think thats a pretty damn good track record. Dont forget, it was Scott that successfully lobbied the team to draft the man who is thought of around the NFL as the best LB in the game today.
Not one Singletary hater likes to acknowledge that for the first time in 7 seasons, the 49ers have a coach who's team has produced more takeaways than giveaways during his tenure as a coach. That may not seem like much to those who dont pay attention to football and think it works just like Madden...but it is the first step to building a perennial winner on the field. He has brought a discipline and enthusiasm to the stadium that hasnt been felt or seen in years.
But thne again...the 49ers havent been to a superbowl or anything like that so what do these fans care.
Hell we still have people in here who wish they could build a time machine to go back to 1981.
Relax folks, there is no one available that is worth the money or playing time theyre asking for. Especially not Joey Porter OR Peppers.

THERE IS NO ONE THAT IS UNRESTRICTED THAT IS OF WORTH TO THIS FOOTBALL TEAM AT THEIR ASKING PRICE!!!!!
I really apologize for the caps but I am truly tired of non-intelligent football fans crying about something they cant comprehend.
The Washington Redskins have been spending like a rich man's wife the last 10 years and even they now understand there is nothing to be had this season.
Do any of our fans appreciate the fact that we have a very good, young nucleus thats ready to get it started in 2010?? 2 1st round draft choices that can probably become instant starters and over 40 million in cap space to possibly pick up a June 1st cut and/or resign our own stars.
Jeez people get the tampons out your a$$e$!!!!
Apology to those I've offended that do not act like this.
