I was born in San Francisco and lived there for eight years after college. Went to Niner games growing up my entire life. Now I live in Southern California. I understand the NorCal bias. Northern California is more beautiful and a nice place to live. San Francisco is a first class city, more so than L.A. in my opinion. Having said that, San Francisco redidents by and large are puffs and are undeserving of the Niners. The Santa Clara move makes a lot of sense. Hard to imagine them moving South, but I'll be happy to pick up tickets if they do.
Most people are gonna have a bias toward their hometown especially if they come from a nice place like San Francisco, I understand that. I'm sure that's why I prefer So Cal (not for my 49ers though, I like a reason to take road trips). I just don't understand all the hate.
There should be no such thing as a LA niner fan... we dont want you go away and wait for a team of your own 5 SUPER BOWLS!!
And then there's manufactured regional baloney like this...San Franciscans have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to comparrisons with L.A. and it's inexplicable. S.F. is great. L.A. is different, but also has some features, e.g., nicer coast and, ironically, more down to earth people. The high and mighty regionalism from S.F. gets a little tiresome. After all, they crapped in their own bed when it came to providing a suitable home to the regionally beloved 5 time Super Bowl Champs. Reality is, the City is not run by avid football fans and most of the fan base comes from outlying counties. The City just likes the association with the Niners when they're winning because of the positive image and publicity. They tend to view themselves as the center of the universe, sort of like New Yorkers.
