Yeah when they had a Hall of Famer throwing it to them. Now they have crappy Leinart.

I like this. But IF Seattle grabs Marshal today, would you feel the same way? Just wondering.

Cards jus lost their (Starting) QB, 2nd WR, FS, Mike LB...

If leinart plays decent they will still be tough to beat. Breaston and Fitzgerald are great receivers. They have two good running backs in Wells and Hightower. Their defense is still decent also.

In no way shape or form will AZ be a slouch next year. I think the latter is wishfull thinking and not the way niner fans should act. If you want to win the west you become better, you don't pray for someone else to suck. If the niners want to win the west they better get a quality QB.

Shouldn't that apply to the Cards now as well? I definitely agree they won't be a slouch but I think we should be favorites to take the division but not by much.

Absolutely. That is why when they needed one, even after they drafter Leinart they went out and got Warner. They are a very pro-active team. Personally I think Leinart will come out with alot to prove and be better than we have all seen him. He has the talent, he just needs the focus.

With our Good D and great RB and TE we will be fine to win the division as well as a home playoff game. I'm not too worried about the seahawks....they can take one game from us again with some atrocious CALLS and it won't mean jack. I do think they will finish 2nd in the division with 6-10 mto 7-9. Their qb is a lot worse than Smith because he had a better OL, WR's to throw too and still did horrible. I'm sure if Alex had Fitz and Boldin and Breaton he would of had close to a pro bowl season

Boldin had over 1000 yards!

Actually if IIRC, they got Warner not start or even compete, but to help in Leinart's development as a QB. Soon after, Leinart got benched for poor play and Warner performed well with the same team.

So in that regard, you could almost say they got lucky?

so this how people become vets here?

No, you become a Vet by being on the WZ for a year. This may be how you acquire a high post count, though. Not that you need any instruction on that, with your 19 a day average.

hey stoney ya aint a mod no more? when did that happen?

Leinart will have to step his game up now yes but the Cards are likely to rely moreso on the run game. Luckily they have 2 good backs but will need to add some pieces to the OL and have a multitude of picks to do so.

As far as losing Boldin goes, Breaston has proven before he can step up when needed and Doucet's light switch seemingly went on in the 2nd half of the year and looks to be turning the corner. Also without Boldin, Fitzgerald has had better numbers on average. Just look at this : LINK

Last year they drafted a FS in the 3rd round, one many around here liked quite a bit, Rashad Johnson. He struggled a bit as he adjusted as a rookie but played in dime packages and has a great mentor to help him improve in Adrian Wilson.

Losing Dansby will hurt but they may find an option in FA or use one of the many draft picks they have to help try and find a player to fill some of the void (Brandon Spikes or Daryl Washington perhaps?), but with Boldin, Dansby and Rolle off the books they will now be able to pay a constant thorn in the 49ers side, Darnell Dockett. They also have a returning Cody Brown who was their 2nd round pick last year. He never played all year due to a wrist injury.

On paper we are pretty even matched teams so it is still their division to lose.

i want spiller and bulaga.

Buluga is not an NFL Tackle. He will not make it as a Tackle in the NFL and be converted to Guard just like the last big name Tackle from Iowa that went in the top part of the 1st round.

Insightful post. You convinced me with your compelling argument.

I'm just giving my opinion, not an argument (aside from the Gallery comparison). My thing is he doesn't look that good at Tackle to me. Also, did you see him at the combine? He just looks like Guard. Not to mention his arms are extremely short compared to what is desired for a top OT.
