Nobody really worth going after! Most of these FA will be available after the draft in this overpriced year.

It seems to me that since Sing has been head coach he hasnt gotten any toys to play with? No big free agent splash: no Mccluess and Dork Jr forking out the dough. Mike Nolan had his chances with failed free agent signings(Glass Jennings).
As a fan i want Sing to have his fair shot to succeed and i think McClueless and Dork are pinching pennies and not giving Sing a fair shot.
What Yall think?
If David Carr is any indication, they are not giving him squat,
WTF!!!! I Cant Stand all these other teams making moves and all we talk about is david carr
Who should they go after that is available?
Peppers wasnt too overpriced considering we gave justin smith 5 years 48 mil....
How about Brandon Marshall?
How about last year trading up for Michael Oher?
Cromartie for a conditional 3rd?
how about bringing leon washington in for a visit?
Maybe a FA guard or Restricted T?
How about Trade up in the draft to get berry and cut michael Lewis?
Give Sing his Toys he deserves is it and im not talking david Carr
You act like any team/player out there is willing to do anything we want them to do.
Just stop this sillyness.
YES PLAYERS ARE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING FOR $$$$$$$$$$$$$
1- No players are not willing to do ANYTHING for money. Adalius Thomas had a bigger offer on the table from us than from New England but he preferred to stay on the East Coast.
2-Nolan is the one who got us Justin Smith with his infamous helicopter tour. He also played a big role in bringing in Clements and attempted to get Adalius Thomas. He also gambled on Antonio Bryant although for the most part this team wanted to build via the draft, Scot and Nolan stated it from the time they got here. The good teams do, look at New England, Pittsburgh and Indy. Now go look at Washington and Dallas who do more of the opposite and how far that has gotten them. You must have also forgotten the dark days or maybe you are to young, the days of salary cap hell for this organization.
3-We don't need to give up a 1st rounder for Marshall, if we did fine. If we don't fine. As great as he can be, he comes with baggage, although I think once he gets paid he'll be quiet at first and maybe for a long time. But if his new team fails to win or get him the ball consistently he will become a thorn in a team's side.
Trading up for Oher would have cost us a 1st round pick from this draft which would likely cause people to find something to b***h about just like they did and still do about Staley even though he has been arguably the best OL we have.
Cromartie is a disaster in zone coverages, he wants to play man. We play a good amount of zone coverages in the secondary. Wise move not to make a move for the kid.
Leon Washington will want a good chunk of money and if he doesn't get a whole lot of reps in the offense then it's a waste. We can give him those reps but at the expense of Coffee losing some. The team seems high on Coffee, maybe you do too maybe you don't but truth of the matter is we still don't know how good he can or can't be. He did not play very many snaps and when he did the playcalling was very predictable. He flashed in preseason so we will continue to see how he develops going forward. Washington is also coming off of a major injury and may not pay early dividends until he fully gets back to form (if he ever does as some players don't ever look the same while some do) which could take quite some time. That would cause people around here to go in an uproar that Scot f**ked that up too.
The team may go after a FA guard or a restricted OT. Seems they just are not interested in dipping in during the 1st wave. If they don't then they have a plan in place I'm sure, whether we the fans agree or disagree. They are far more knowledgeable than most if not all of us will ever be.
To trade up and get Berry we need to move up to 5-6-7. KC, Seattle or Cleveland will all have serious interest and all could use a major upgrade there. Tampa could take him at 3 as well. Our 2nd rounder gets us as high as 6, to get to 5 then we are giving up our 4th as well. Or we could trade away our 2011 1st round pick. I like Berry a lot and unless he drops like a brick to 9 or 10 I wouldn't even consider it if I were us. We could use the picks we have to add bodies to compete for jobs and continue to build and develop players who could become solid depth. Depth is an underrated key element to building a successful team.
Sing has a lot of toys as it to develop with the rest of our staff, high price FA's have to fit the mold of the character of player you want and the scheme you run. You can't just sign a guy who just had a great year and think he will come in and do the same for us.
We are fine as is right now and need to continue to build through the draft and look for values in free agency like the Patriots and Colts have done over and over to be viable contenders year in and year out.
That is not the point im trying to make im saying that usually when an NFL team gets a new head coach that team at least brings in one big free agent splash and that singltary hasnt been afforded that luxury as of yet.
And the pats and Colts bith have superstat QBs so they have they luxury of building through the draft.....we are a team full of high character players who havent won anything at all.....im saying let sing role the dice and bring in his type of player one time to try to help the team win
The Pats and Colts drafted and developed those superstar QB's. Just remember that, and then for the most part they drafted the rosters (Wayne, Freeney, Addai, Seymour, Wilfork, Samuel) that helped win them Superbowl's. They got great values in FA or by trade to help they bolster the rosters (Dillon, Moss and both teams OL's were full of values).
Whose to say Sing WANTS to bring in a big name free agent ? Maybe he is content with what he has and believes in continuing to develop those players while drafting to continue to build the roster ?
What you are saying is you are not content with the route we have taken and you blame the owners and GM yet they have spent money in free agency, big money at that (Clements, Smith, Jennings and an attempt at Adalius Thomas). The pennies that you claim they are pinching are going to be used to extend Willis, Davis and others.
If Sing isn't b***hing why are you ?

Our team does not want to win championships they want to make money
For goodness sake. Presumably neither of you read about how we were building through the draft? Check out the thread which discusses how much - without any free agents - it will cost us to re-sign our best players.
How come good teams like the eagles always keep thier best players and aquire top FA talent and we are content saving our money for our 2-3 players that deserve extentions.....to that extent if we are trying to save this money to resign our own players how come PWILLIS hasnt been given an extention yet? while average players like Joe Staley and Parys Haraloson have? Explain this to me........

Parys was here longer than Willis and I am sure Willis and Davis are next in line.
And how many Superbowl's have the Eagles won ? Again, Pats Colts and Steelers all believe in building through the draft and have all won Superbowl's this past decade.

I'm getting really restless with Scot now. Scoty let the Cards get Kerry Rhodes and for a 4th? Why didn't he do that. The safety positions would be taken care of and we could focus on other things in the Draft. He did the same thing or uh didn't pull the trigger a couple years back when he could of had his choice of Kris Jenkins, Marcus Stroud, or Shaun Rodgers for a ridiculously reasonable price (and yes I know Franklin has stepped up of course, but still). We still don't have a QB, still need another safety even though Mike Lewis is a good option on 1st and 2nd down even still. We still don't have that dominate pass rusher you need to be a great defense, we still have problems on the O-line, we still, we still... We don't win the division this year (even though we should of won the last 2 e'ffing years anyways!) he better be gone.

You mean kick some serious butt of course . . . yeah Dansby would have been nice but with what we'll need to eventually pay Willis that much dough locked up in ILB's would be crazy. Rolle was way over-paid . . . no thanks. Kerry Rhodes before a draft deep with good DB's? . . . no thanks. With the $12 million tied up in Clements, Spencer and T. Brown they weren't going to go add another $9+ million for Dunta Robinson. Peppers was never going to happen. Did anyone truly expect us to go after a top-tier FA?
IMO the RFA OT's Gaither and Colon are the guys we should take a long look at.

Scot didn't let them get Rhodes, The Jets did. Scot maybe was scared off due to Rhodes having a knack for saying the wrong thing from time to time in the media or on twitter. Maybe it was the fact that he freelances at times and was benched at one point this season. Maybe it was the fact that he played poorly in run support or the fact that since he got his extension his overall play was not on par with his performance on the field before he saw the dollars and cents.
Not trading for Jenkins, Stroud or Rodgers proved he had faith in Franklin and that has paid off for him in that regard.
The team wants to build through the draft so if we are going to trade draft picks for these guys they have to bring value for what we are going to give up and have to fit the character mold & strong work ethic we are looking for as well as fit into OUR schemes on offense or defense.

Who's better Mike Lewis or Kerry Rhodes? Uh ya. For just a 4th round pick, you do that deal.
For a 3rd I believe it was for any one of 3 Pro Bowl type DT's you do that deal. How sick would our line be with one of those 3 Franklin, Smith, and Ice, jeez that be insane. Course this is the same guy that drafted Alex Smith over a guy who's already a Pro Bowler and the way he's going at it going to be in the HOF so it's not surprising me as much anymore. For all the good moves he's made he sure has made some bad ones as well or none at all for that matter.

i believe we have no free agent starters signed last two years of free agency because we have cheap ownership i refuse to believe over the last two years not one free agent could have improved our team look at darren sharper 9 ints and 3 house calls the saint got him cheap too 1 year 1 million deal also i believe j peppers was worth big money we need a pass rusher he would have been better investment than nate clements who has not been worth 70 million dollars we gave him jonas jenning got big money and he wasnt worth it always injured i like justin smith but the point is how can mike nolan get all these free agents and singletary gets damon huard cut before season and david carr never should have signed we need impact players like bolden cromratie peppers free agents still available that i think could help are darren sharper terrell owens or antonio bryant, joey porter we did not make playoffs because we needed upgrades at several positions to sit still in free agency and bet it all on draft is not a recipe for success
