I think he makes a fair analysis. The 49ers have a lot of room for improvement... He makes a good point about Joe Staley, he may be better suited to right tackle than left. Frank's very good, but needs a better OL in front of him to really shine. Alex, Vernon, and Crabtree are only going to get better playing together this season.
Room for improvement, yes, but progress is being made and with a decent draft things will be looking up.

He may be stupid, but from the quote above he hit the nail on the head.
Yup...but if you read the whole article, you'll find some really interesting points. I was particularly touched by his observation that our secondary looked sharp, but for some injuries.
I was also moved by his observation that Joe Staley is average in pass protection, and a below average run blocker.
No, I didn't read it. Sounds like you're right, i won't wastemy time with the article.

You misread, my friend.
LT Joe Staley was a microcosm of the rest of the line: average in pass protection and effective, but not dominant, on the ground.
Can't say I disagree with much this guy said.

What about joe. He just said he sucks at run blocking and now you think he should move to Rt Where do most teams like to run behind? great i rather just keep him at lt this way he's at least solid in stopping the elite passrushers, i rather not see joe getting his ass knocked to the ground why trying to relearn his footwork. This is a nolan move ok so he's solid at lt, lets move him to the other side and really screw with the kid then i'll just throw him under the bus and move him back next year..

I think the only thing keeping the D from being a top 10 defense is the offense. When you are 6th in avg yds per play and 4th in points per game, things are looking pretty good. The only reason we aren't better in yards per game (which most people use to rank defense is that we were also 5th in total plays from scrimmage. There are only 3 teams that played more than 1000 plays on defense in the top 15,
7. denver played 1007 w/ 315 yds given up,
12. philadephia 1037 plays giving up 321 yards per game
15. SF 1050 plays giving up 326 yards per game

Too bad a good joke was waisted on a non-movie buff such as myself.

Remember, it was the defence that gave up the two touchdown plays (1 at the Vikings and 1 the halfback pass at the colts) that kept us from being 10-6 instead of 8-8.

So...our secondary looked sharp?
Our line was effective in the ground game? Staley was a microcsm of the line even though he missed half of the season?
Sorry, but I still stand by my initial point: this guy's opinion sure as hell wasn't formed from actually watching the team play. He read a stat line, then came up with some bullsh*t.
He was spot on with Haralson and Lawson, and obviously had heard of Franklin, but he glossed over the line and secondary with some general and vague horsesh*t.
It read like a horoscope. I am underwhelmed.

Wow....
That article is dead on.. the reason why some don't see it that is because we have blinded 49er homers.... Joe Staley is decent but he is no way near dominant and ues Manny Lawson does have a finess game... We need a Mauler or a dominant OT period !!!!
