WOW! Serious? Active in not drafting the players to fit our needs!! the last 2 years prove that to be a fact! Also the bonehead O-lineman signings.
McCloughan scares me & he should scare you!
past two years?
hm..we drafted kentwan balmer in 08
a defensive linemen
no one else to get that "fits our needs", not our fault he sucks
and Michael Crabtree..obviously we were looking for a linemen or defensive player but with crabtree still there i would take him every time.

Nine teams? Way to go out on a limb there buddy. That's like predicting the Sun will come up tomorrow. For a team to be like the Saints, they would need a top notch QB, a genius play caller, and an O-line that can pass block. 49ers fail in all three categories. The O-line may be addressed this offseason (although I highly doubt Mcloughan can get it done), but Alex Smith and Jimmy Raye will be here next year.

This guy must have forgotten how low our talent level sunk under Terry Donahue. McCloughan is a few players away from having this team completely rebuilt, for that he has my support.
Just wish he would have selected Rodgers, who knows what could have been.

that doesn't mean crap
but i really think that we can make a run this season. with some new o-linemen starters we'll be a force to be reckoned with. give the QB some time, no more 3 and outs, and give the D some rest
The Saints' Super Bowl run was about ONE thing and ONE thing only -- Drew f'in Brees having an out-of-this-world Hall-of-Fame-type season. They were otherwise a completely one-sided team with an absolutely atrocious defense.
So if you REALLY want to find the "next New Orleans Saints", then you pretty much want the exact OPPOSITE of the current 49ers (strong defense, mediocre QB).
But if that writer really insists on finding a Super Bowl Cinderella model for the 49ers, then he should've just stuck with the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. They went from 6-10 to 8-8 to 12-4 (Super Bowl champs). Of course it helped that the Ravens had a dynamic pass-rusher and a shut-down corner to elevate their defense into GOAT territory, as well as an All-Pro left tackle to help keep their offense respectable. And that's 3 huge pieces the Niners are missing, if you want to make that comparison.

I believe it! looks like people are starting to jump on the bandwagon already...member a couple months back Trent Dilfer called us the best team to miss the playoffs and that we could possibly get a 1st round bye in the playoffs next year.
