Why the Stadium is NOT being built in SF

The Empire State building was built in 410 days. The residents of San Francisco passed Proposition D to build a Stadium 13 years ago. YES, I am aware that Eddie D threw a huge monkey wrench in the wole thing by getting ousted as owner. We all know it would have been done years ago if he was still owner. But please, no one hold there breath on this stadium being built in SF. IMO this is the the real reason nothing is or will be built.

Truthfully, I don't mind driving to Santa Clara. At least they'll stay in the Bay and I can still tailgate at least 10 times a year.

Those Environmentalist don't have enough money to back it up nor does great american park. The niners could by and sell them any day of the week and wouldn't even notice...
Because people in SF are more interested in having no pants to work Fridays and any other freaky thing they can think. They think being stupid is what makes them unique. Eddie D messed up and will never own this team again. Just deal with it. One way or another they will win again.

Dan Snyder?

I will say first that I am from Vancouver and live in Toronto so I ahve no idea about the day to day climate and political issues in SF. So as far as taxes and public money to pay for it that is one issue I can't get into.

As far as the location, why can't they play somewhere else (Stanford? At&T Park?) for two or 3 years and blow up Candlestick and build a new stadium right in the same spot?

I am sure there is a good reason but I have never really heard why it has to be Santa Clara or Hunters Point or whatever.

Can someone local let me know?

What?

its a fact. SF is too entrenched as a city run by left-leaning politicians who'd rather spend city funds on what they deem more "socially-conscious" problems (and never fixing it). building something new for a team that has given the city 5 world championships is the last thing on their agenda. the only reason the Giants got theirs built was 'cos it was almost entirely privately financed). now i won't accuse these SF politicos of being totally hostile or hateful of the 49ers, it's just that most are oblivious could & care less of the team's plight in comparison to other NFL teams in newer stadiums, when they feel the city has bigger problems than helping the Yorks build a new stadium in SF. Take their wisdom for what its worth-- yeah its bad for the team, but in the but most only looking out for the city's bigger problems (as well as their reelection).

Its not just the Niners. Is it any coincidence the 3 oldest stadiums (that haven't been renovated like Lambeau & Soldier Field) are all in California? The Chargers and Raiders are both in the same boat. State economics (higher cost of construction) as well as politics (more liberal politicians who are less inclined to spend public funds on stadiums for billionaire owners) are just two of the the bigger stumblingblocks that have prevented all 3 Cali teams from building new stadiums.

The Santa Clara deal won't fall through either (seeing that the new stadium's parking limitations will prevent them from airing a primetime game there = NFL revenue killer/zero backing from Goodell for economic support).

So the only option at this point would be to plan a complete renovation of the stick (which would be a so/so but okay plan), and it'd be worth it if (god forbid) we'd have to share a stadium with the Raiders for a year (in the process).

Hunter's Point is a toxic dump, and Great America is a hot ground for lawsuits and angry Santa clara locals (mainly made up of angry old 'community-nazis'). -Renovation is the only real solution, and we'd probably get more than enough money/clearance from the Mayor/NFL to do it.

You are renovationg a dump. That stadium is old junk. Time to start over. Just knock it down and start over with a new one. Maybe play the games for 2 years at Stanford stadium or something.
