The 'Skins hiring Foerster tells me one thing: that Foerster didn't fit the blocking scheme in SF and does fit the one in DC.
The 49ers run a power blocking scheme: lots of powers, traps, isos. Shanahan is an accomplished zone blocking guy. This tells me that Foerster wasn't a fit here to begin with, which leaves me puzzled as to why he was here in the first place.
Nolan hired him because Warhop sucked. I'm guessing Foerster was the only guy he knew at the time, and he was available.
Then it just speaks to how lost and out of touch Nolan was as a HC.

I'd welcome Cable.
I wouldnt. I heard Warren Sapp interviewed on the radio and he was telling a story about how Cable came up to him one time in practice and said "Rush my line". Sapp responded, "Ok, what protection are you running?". Sapp said that in a game, he knew what protection the opposing offense was running 90% of the time. He said, "I didnt get all those sacks by guessing which way the center was going to run".
Cable had no clue what Sapp was talking about, and when Sapp was asked if Cable was qualified to be a head coach, he said, "I dont think he was qualified to be an offensive line coach"
PASS
Co-signed.

Actually not true. The day Nolan was fired, Warhop was fired too. Foerster was already on the staff as an assistant and just got promoted.

So Foerster was on the 49ers already... hired by Nolan to be co-Offensive line Coach or Offensive line Coach's assistant? So...

Foester was an assistant to Warhop and Nolan did not want to fire Warhop. The 49ers fired Nolan and Warhop the same day. Nolan did not promote Foester to Oline coach because he was already fired. The 49ers organization without Nolan automatically promoted Foerster.

I'm not worried about the Greatness of Shanahanahanan. That was a LONG time ago. He will never again approach what he did as a younger coach. There's good reasons why he got the axe in Denver. He can have Foerster, and welcome to him.

Yes to what?
Yes to now the line needs to learn a new scheme?
Yes to now we are going to have a unproven OL coach because there isn't anyone out there.
??
I could have sworn that the blocking scheme was determined by the coordinator... Not the o-line coach. The online coach teaches technique and yes I would rather have a new O-line coach over a one that has proven to be no good.
