Warner can't have had too much of an effect on us losing the division - we beat AZ both times we played them.

Yeah but we got a killer new ST coach who has never done anything outstanding in this field, so that should help lots!

Name another team besides the Colts and NO that could go 8-8 without 2 OT's, a horrible OL, their RB out for 3 games, best CB (now it's a toss up with the edge to Spencer) and a revolving fumbling door at PR/KR??????? Not to mention Crabs not playing until week 5?????
We already HANDLED the cards WITH WARNER they just had the better playoff teams at their HOME and the niners had to play 5 playoff teams AWAY.
How are the niners sad when we should of won MINN and IND to of the best teams in the league not to mntion ARIZ twice??????
When we had Montana and Young nobody could beat us until they were gone. When we lost Owens, not many teams could beat us. It happens to every team, HOWEVER as far as the Cards go, We do just fine against Warner
You hit the nail on the head guapo. This team COULD have been better with 2 of those issues going another direction.
Most notably Gore. He isn't injured and we win 2 more games. Or at least have better SHOT at winning them. That is good enough for 10-6 and the Division. I would have LOVED to see what this team could have done if it had been in the playoffs instead of the Tards.

I loved it. The Cards D after that kept trying to cheap shot Brees out of the game after that. Most notably the hit below the knee. That could be a career ender right there.
That hit on Warner was straight up clean. Keep your head on a swivel old man. You knew better than to run after the guy with blinders on.
Gotta love the fail message at the end of this.

We went 8-8. What the heck were people saying when we were 4-12, and looking worse than the Browns did this year? Seems like everybody on here plays WAY TOO MUCH Madden.
.500 is not lame. It is mediocre, and it's not great, but it's not lame either. Lame is not understanding that
9-7, or one more win, would be a winning record. 9-7 is better than mediocre, or average. 9-7 can get you in the playoffs. The words, and worse, concepts of improvement and progress are like greek on the zone.

In following the playoffs so far, the one consistent feature of every winning team is a solid OL that pass protects.
This is a passing league. Multiple rule changes have assured it would be so. Hence, the first thing a team must do is protect its QB to allow time to throw. Until that happens, the team will not win consistently.
No, the 49ers are not "lame." They just are not as good as the teams ahead of them. They have some young talent but they also have an inexperienced coaching staff that has not fully developed the talent they have.

There was a time where some of us wished Favre n Aikman would go down cause we couldn't stop them. It woulda meant 3-4 more championships.

A team can't wait for other teams to get weaker so that they can improve their division standing. If that's our strategy, then we are lost!
