Im not saying it is a great thing or it will work out but if Singletary wants to have continuity, I can understand why he is going to keep Forester around.
Now lets go out and get a quality vetran OG or C and hopefully draft Bryan Bulaga
I don't agree w/ it, but I see your reasoning. In that case, if we miss the playoffs yet again, I guess Singletary, Raye and Foerster will all get fired...package deal.
Edit: I'm calling it now. Manusky for HC, Johnson promoted to OC and Tomsula promoted to DC!
I don't know about Manusky as HC, but in the long-run... Johnson will be the OC, which I like. I keep hearing good things about the guy.
Yeah, Johnson as OC is what I keep hearing/reading, too. He's supposedly being groomed to take over when Raye is gone. That might be as soon as after next season.

McCloughan, Singletary, Raye, Alex Smith, Forester, they are all going to sink or swim together, IMO
I forgot about the GM and Smith in that package deal. If Jed York had the courage to make that drastic a move and let go of the HC and GM...I doubt it, but we'll see.

who is one of the most promising young offensive mind and a GM that will help him draft good players outside #12

Foerster should have been the FIRST assistant to be canned. Niners have spent high picks on O linemen, but have only a substandard unit to show for it. You may blame McCloughan but I think the talent here is not the main problem, it's coaching.
Before Foerster, it was Warhop, who was such a great coach that Dallas threw him out. Can't the Niners find an O line coach who hasn't been fired from his previous gig? This is insanity.
If Tom Cable were to end up without a job, I'd replace Foerster with him in an instant. Ray Brown would be another possibility. They could hardly do worse than Foerster.

Can you imagine Cable trying to sucker punch Sing? Yikes, I wouldn't want to be Cable.
On another note, reading this thread is making me depressed....

Due to injuries, some teams were forced to shuffle their guards to tackle and had rookies filling in. Those lines perfprmed better than ours. I just don't get why we're keeping this guy.

WHY? . . . because Singletary (as was pointed out by a previous poster) has no coaching tree! He only has 1 year coaching experience himself! Maybe he thinks he can MOTIVATE the OL to be a power smashmouth OL. Damn... or maybe he thinks he can find a new coach on Craigslist!

WE should also encourage them to run mroe bump and run Defense, and to run off tackle instead of the same play up the middle that gets stopped.

The only way Singletary gets fired is if we go 8-8 again or worse. If that was the case why would you want to keep anyone?
If we fail to make the playoffs again EVERYBODY GOES.

It is my slim hope that Singletary is waiting as other teams make coaching moves. Perhaps A good OL coach comes free when a new HC brings in his own people. Please make it true!

Yeah, I have been hoping that this is just a "Vote of confidence"
