I remember a few times with Mac Duff we would do surprise onside kicks to start the half.

It always amazes me how fans who dwell on a message board think they know what goes on behind closed doors in terms of personal decisions for their team as if they were privy to that information.

That'd be badass to get MacDuff back. Besides hiring Rathman back, that would be the second 'best' personnel move through Sing's tenor.
As for people worried about the OL-coaching position, I'm getting a sheer vibe that Foerester will be out FOR SURE... but we're waiting until after maybe even the Superbowl to see all the open options (it'd be a smarter move, too). -I would hope that we'd take a shot at Jim Hueber (Minnesota's assistant o-line coach).

You may be giving the ST coach too much credit. I suspect no surprise kick is called unless the HC approves it.

Just like the HC approved the Seattle reverse...

Mac Duff was a very good ST's coach for us and was one of only two coaches I believe (Jason Tarver being the other) that were brought back by Nolan from the Erickson staff.
Bobby April would be better but Mac Duff would be a good hire as well.

Yup, I don't think that there has been much info about how Sing delegates authority, or if he does. You would think he wants to decide everything, but there was that "go see Raye" statement when the players wanted to change the offense. Not enough has been made of that amazing moment.

So I hope Mac comes back and picks up where he left off before with a great ST unit.
No offense but Everest had a solid unit that did all that. We've had blocked Kicked, Punts our K/P coverage was high as well too. Andy Lee is in the top of the league per punt. And Ned may not be the greatest but he's solid and can generally be counted upon. And right up until Rossum was cut our Return game wasn't bad either. At least we didn't have our Return man running up the backs of his blockers, like MacDuffs KR/PR units did.
If we get MacDuff back I hope that he has that part of his coaching figured out. You guys may not have remembered that part but I sure as hell do.
Cause imho, it's a downgrade not an upgrade.
We ALL know who is to blame for the PR issues. It wasn't Al.
