My Take on Alex Smith

I am an Alex Smith fan. I agree with everything you have said, good and bad. It makes sense. He has made dramatic improvement last year and expect him to be better next season. He will start hitting the deep ball with the reciever catching it in stride more often, he just needs to build that sort of trust with his recievers first. The other thing that he will improve this offseason are those intermediate throws, this will improve his yards per completion average which should translate to not having to face as many third downs or third and long's as they have been. I expect this offense to be ranked in the middle of the pack come the end of next season and with our defense making huge strides I believe we not only make it into the playoffs in 2010 and I believe we will go deep into the post season barring no significant injuries and a few changes along the O-line.

Great post & I agree. An offseason with his recievers they will be much better next year.
here's something else interesting i noticed. these are vernon's stats
extrapolated for a 16game season for each QB.

davis' 16 game year with hill as QB
64rec - 762yds - 8.7td - 5.8catches over 20 yards

davis' 16 game year with alex as QB
85rec - 1071yds - 15.2td - 12.2catches over 20 yards

* i'm only 80% sure on the stats for catches over 20 yards.
i do know that davis' only 2 such catches from hill
were rec of 21 and 31 yards. davis caught balls of
29, 40, 32, 30, 42, a couple others in the low 20s
and of course that 73 yard bomb of beauty.

** one last thing, i suppose you could say that davis didnt
have crabtree drawing attention from the D with hill, but...
c'mon. i dont think teams were game planning for crabs.

No use making that argument. There are alot of zoners who think Nate Davis is the answer either next season or in 2011.
i'm really not trying to "make an argument" or change anybody's mind.
i just noticed some things and thought i'd share...
maybe somebody else will contribute good point or two (which some have)
but i'm really not the type to give a crap if any zoners disagree with me
