Do you guys think they didn't want VD to get the record so that they would save money when trying to resign him? I think it sounds interesting especially since it seemed they went away from him almost the entire game. What does the zone think?

Very possible, lots of teams do that, especially when we have cheap owners.

"Stats are for losers," Belichick said. "The final score is for winners."

him getting the record doesn't change the fact that he is going to get paid. Davis had a huge breakout season and is a very dangerous/unique talent at TE. He knows it and the 9ers know it, I expect him to sign a nice extension this offseason along with Willis/Franklin/Goldston maybe Lawson/Gore also.

Doesn't Gore have 2 - 3 years left on his contract? We paid him huge money after the 06 season so I think he is okay for a while.
Definitely lock-up Willis and VD. Lawson will be going into his final year, not sure if there is a huge push to sign him yet but it would be nice if the price is right. Same goes for Goldson (on the price is right part, he isn't in his last year I don't believe but might be wrong). Franklin, franchise.

quoting a coach that cheats to obtain the final result.

I believe they called the same calls that they would have called if he were close to getting the record or not...So to answer your question, no, they did not deliberately avoid going to VD.

"Filming another teams walkthrough before a super bowl and cheating is also for winners," Belicheck said after pondering for a moment, "Winning without cheating is for losers."
