All this talk about Nate Davis should start? What about Alex Boone?? Why not try him these two last games?? Adam Snyder is the worst RT in the league, how much worse can Boone?

I was thinking the same thing because Snyder is flat out horrible. This is what I don't get. I know Barry Sims sucked at RT Last year but he looked really good at LT when he replaced Joe Staley. Why wasn't Sims able to beat out Barry Snyder this year if his on field play was superior? It makes you think. I'm guessing Boone is too young and inexperienced though. In any case lets draft and sign more Olineman in 2010. That position is currently a disaster.

Maybe he isn't ready to get promoted from the practice squad.. He could be getting schooled regularly in practice and putting him in a real game would jeopardize Smith's health.
Snyder is bad enough, if Boone is worse, them let's keep him on the PS..
Regardless, we still MUST use one of our 1st rounders on a bonafide RT.

well I was thinking when we were out of the playoff stakes, that is why I said 2 games.
I don't know if anyone is worse than Snyder. Our coaching staff just cant evaluate talent. (SPURLOCK AS KICKRETURNER/PUNT RETURNER)

he wasn't any good in the preseason and I'd guess that he's not ready for a bigger role.
This is just another irrational proposal like the various Nate Davis and Kory Sheets love fests.

He sucked in preseason, I doubt he has improved greatly in 4 months.

hey they aren't always irrational. this board was screaming for Ahmad Brooks to get more playing time since he came here and look what happened when he got some.

I don't think it's irrational to give them a shot at getting some experience.

Give some of the young guys a shot. I know we want to go 8-8, but why not.

If he was anywhere close to being ready, he would've been on the 53 man roster when Staley went down earlier in the season. Poor performance + injuries = chance for younger players. Boone obviously wasn't/isn't ready, otherwise he would've been called up from the practice squad by now.

The 49ers beat reporters MM etc get asked this all the time and they all say that Boone needs considerable development in terms of his footwork and general play. He is no where near ready to contribute at the moment and is a project going forward into next season and beyond.
I think he is likely to remain on PS for 2010.

Two reasons:
1) He's not ready.
2) You have to release a player a week before the end of the season.
Teams don't "experiment" during the regular season. You either are ready to play, or you are not ready to play. If you are not ready to play, you don't.
