At te beginnning of the year up until the last few weeks we knew we needed OL, Pass Rush and safety help.
Now Goldie looks like a very good safety forcing fumbles, hitting hard as hell, and int's.
Now Brooks looks like a beast in pass rushing (already 4th in the nfl forcing fumbles.....imagine if he played the whole year) He reminds me on Harrison on the Steelers and may of had close to his numbers this year or better if we played him more.
So it looks like we may be set at FS and OLB rush. There is always room for improvement but now it looks like the main flaw with this team is OL. I know we can't draft 2 OL in the 1st round, but who knows?
People have pointed to secondary speed lacking....the last time i checked Brown and Spencer are pretty fast and so is Goldie. We may need an upgrade at SS but SS are uusally slower and Lewis and even Clements are so valuable in the running game as well. Clements shuts down almost any wr in the league so when he returns, i think we will be more than fine in our secondary with crazy depth. (sencer, clements, bly, brown, goldie, lewis sick!!!!)
I think our main team need Now is OL and KR/PR. What do you think? Also, do you think we may reach for an OL because usually the best OT's are gone before we will pick (anywhere from 12-20 for both CAR and SF picks)

You can never have too many pass rushers, good o lineman or dbs.

We need pass rush we are not set at that position at all. Safety play still shaky imo. Team has the same needs imo.

Please stop calling him Goldie...
With that said, I still think drafting a safety to replace Lewis in the next year or two would be a good idea. I would only do that if one of the top safeties were available though. The Niners need more speed and range at the safety position.
As for Brooks, its hard to say. He is reminding me of Haralson, and how he came on late in the year last year. Teams seemed to figure out Haralson though and he isnt putting up the numbers like he did last year. I really dont know if the Niners draft another guy this year. If they dont, and Brooks falls off next year everyone will be screaming to fire McLoughan because he didnt address the position again.
I think OL is the biggest priority. They need to figure out what they are going to do with Pashos and Sims. They also need to figure out if they trust Rachal and Baas to develop more and get better at pass pro. I would definitely look at Logan Mankins if he is available, and probably a guard or RT in the draft.
Let's just say I am glad its not my job to make those decisions, but Im also glad that we have two #1's so that it might be a little easier of a decision for the GM.

I agree that we have needs at all three, but I feel like the importance of the other positions has diminished in light of our OL issues.

OL and DB will probably be the first two picks. We need a solid, young No. 1 CB in the near future as well as a SS. Take whichever is available.
Pass rush is still a question. Will Brooks continue to develop? Will we continue to get sacks from scheme?
Seriously need a returner tho. Bad.

Goldson misses too many times because of bad angles and ends up whiffing on tackles. The safety is the last line of defense and we need a sure tackler and a playmaker there. 3 picks in 972 snaps doesn't make me think of Ronnie Lott or Ed Reed. The 413 yards he has given up is 4th worst for safeties in the league.
Our pass rush has 44% of their sacks in three games, which means against three bad tackles. If we want to win against good teams we have to have OLB's that are able to beat good tackles one on one. Thats a big reason why we didn't beat the Vikes, Colts, Packers etc..

For the correct price, of course. Would compliment gore nicely and help with the spread implementation.

IMO there's no reason we couldn't draft two o-linemen in the first round. Wouldn't bug me one bit.

Can't really use that one on the Colts game as we got to Manning 3 times in that game and they won on a trick play, While we only got to Farve 2 times the vikes won on a pray. But we need a more consistent game to game. 2.3 sacks per game is about or a little above the NFL average. The niners are 11th in sacks overall.

I liked the progress of Goldson and Brooks this season. They are still very new, so we don't know if they can be counted on yet.
Clements shuts down everybody? No way. Nate gets burnt a lot!! He tackles very well, but is not a shut down corner. The best corners on the Niners right now are Spencer and Bly.
2 OL in the first 3 rounds for sure! Plus, lets get a new OL coach!

When we need sacks at critical times, usually the 4th quarter, we aren't getting them. When our QB needs time to throw or Frank needs some blocking, they're not getting it. OL and OLB, again, for the fifth year in a row. Shouldn't be too hard for our GM to remember.
