i feel your pain, yeah hopefully McClueless gets some gems in the draft this year or we are doomed for 8-8 again, im hoping anthony davis and joe haden, and peppers in free agency.
MehCloughan = The Peter Principle
The Peter Principle is the principle that "In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence." It was formulated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter and Raymond Hull in their 1969 book The Peter Principle, a humorous treatise which also introduced the "salutary science of Hierarchiology", "inadvertently founded" by Peter. It holds that in a hierarchy, members are promoted so long as they work competently. Sooner or later they are promoted to a position at which they are no longer competent (their "level of incompetence"), and there they remain, being unable to earn further promotions. This principle can be modeled and has theoretical validity.[1] Peter's Corollary states that "in time, every post tends to be occupied by an employee who is incompetent to carry out his duties" and adds that "work is accomplished by those employees who have not yet reached their level of incompetence".
What have YOU been watching in your spare time? HMMMM!!!????

Yeah -- I'm bummed that we didn't make it to the playoffs -- but this may be a silver lining in disguise.
Say the team did eek out a 9-7 or 10-6 finish? And McClueless is still McClueless? It means he'd be getting a contract extension -- no matter what happened next year or the year after.
BUT! We didn't get that win in Minny. We bobbled that sure win against the SeaHaggots in Seattle. We finished 8-8 instead.
Next year? Next season? This is make or break for McClueless and his pals. This team either makes the jump to an elite level -- or the wish for some to see McClueless sent packing becomes granted automatically. Jed has a little bit of Eddie in him. He's not going to fart around for season after season and see which one smells like a rose.
So -- cheer up boys and girls. Next year is key. We either make it -- or start over.

Dude, I need some bodies like you to rise up and participate in a rebellion.... the defection of our friend from San Diego has left me as the only one willing and able to stand up and fight for the just cause; the only real cause. We simply can not allow mediocrity to be the only thing that we are allowed to aspire to. I caution you to not be fooled. The head of the serpent was not chopped off with the departure of Nolan.

Now it's 7 years and no playoffs, and really why should I expect next year to be different? Yeah, yeah continuity, but is that enough? Is having Raye coming back really supposed to make that much of a difference? The best he's ever produced is a 9-7 team I believe, and all we can do is speculate that Alex and the offense will get better.
We still have the same questions marks from 6 years ago, being o-line, QB, pass rush, etc. Yeah, we've gotten some talent, but with those glaring holes still present, I don't see how playoffs should be expected. I remember back in the day it was SB or bust, so it's hard for me to believe this is the same franchise. It pains me hearing fans from other teams say things like, "That was in the past. The niners suck." Don't get me wrong, I'll be a niner fan throughout life and even death, but I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I want this team to be the best in the NFL again, but when is that day ever going to come? So basically I'm asking for someone to give me some hope, and maybe lend me a candle for traversing in this tunnel.
Keep your head up, remember we sucked the year before we won our first superbowl.
