With 7. The fumbles against the Texans killed us because they scored a touchdown after recovering it and same with Seattle. We lost both those games by 3 points. We really need a real punt returner next year. I hate it when we keep switching players around during the game. Not to mention we hurt our really expensive cornerback.

I'm 100% sure we will find a good punt and kickoff specialist weather is on the draft or free agency.

We cut our return man. We lost 2 games as a result. And we routinely lose field position and have turnovers as a result. The powers that be thought it would be good to cut the return man with no backup plan. Obviously that wasn't a good plan.

And that return man is still out of the league. Clearly there was something wrong with Rossum, so cutting him was bound to happen.
The biggest mistake made in the off season was that they should have brought in a back plan because even if we had kept Rossum he would have gotten injured.

This season we would have been better off subbing in a pass rusher to block the punt, eliminating the possibility of a fumble.
on the bright side we forced the most fumbles in the NFL

There is nothing wrong with Rossum. There is something wrong with Singletary.
~ Do you realize we can't even catch the ball and muff returns over and and over and over? We put the ball on the ground and give away games.
Give me Rossum who can catch the ball and not muff it every time with sure hands. And give me ZERO RETURN YARDS every single time and we will be 1,000 times better off than we currently are.

A freak injury in Dallas does not take away from the fact that he could catch the freaking ball without muffing it.
We don't have anybody on our team like that now. And there is no guarantee he would have been injured here. For all we know we would have a return guy who can catch the damn ball and not cost us games.

SD man there is something wrong with Rossum, he has been injured and has already been cut by two teams since we cut him. Though I do agree I would rather have someone back there just to be able to catch it, no matter the return yardage.

We have the worst return game I've ever seen. When we are back there, I[m not hoping for a big return, I'm just hoping for a clean catch. This is a case of not being able to plug every hole in one off season. At Rossum's age, you had to have a back up plan, but he fell off instantly. It was no mistake getting rid of him, he's been and letting him get used to the role. We've tried everyone and discovered no one can do it well. It will be addressed this offseason.

I thought it could never get worse than Dexter Carter. He was a fumble just waiting to happen I used to pray the punts went out of bounds so he wouldn't return it and fumble. These guys are worse.

Kory Sheets was also given a shot but he didn't cut it either.
We defend returns well enough but Al Everest has not seemed to have the pieces to make the receiving end work. He is a veteran ST coach. He should be able to make it work.
