if brooks had been in there on that last play against the Vikes, I bet that miracle play never happens. Brooks is a much better pass rusher than Lawson.

Props to Brooks. Let's pray that he can keep it up. We desperately need a pass rush to help out our secondary.

Brooks is
even on the plays where he didn't get sacks, he was almost there and adding lots of pressure

Like Willis, Singletary took Brooks under his wing. My bet says that Brooks wants to stay too

where else would he go. ok before you guys jump on my d!ck like Marcia Clark. I know that money talks and Bull Shiite runs the marathon. But remember the entire NFL besides the Bengals(and we all know that they take hoodlums always) gave up on him. Mike Singletary gave him a chance and I believe he stays loyal to the man. To take the words from M. Crabtree on draft day "I'm going to a place where they want me". I think this applies to Double Nickle...aka Hot Nicks.

Brooks has earned a start from yesterday's game. Put him in there and see what he can do on 1st and 2nd downs.
He didn't earn anything. That's what he was expected to do. He was the better pass rusher so he is expected to play on obvious passing downs. Lawson is still better in setting the edges on running plays. The coaches see that as well.
Haralson or Manny has done little on the pass rushing front. Time to get Brooks in there and see if he can put some pressure on other downs.

i noticed a thread yesterday whining that we need to draft high on another sack specialist...hopefully fans are noticing that we're starting to get more pressure than a lot of people realize
Now that Brooks has been thrown into the mix the last two weeks, the numbers have gone up significantly. Up till that point, the pass rush was inconsistent at best. I still think getting another pass rusher is a priority for next season.
I agree I just think we have more pressing needs in the first two rounds

I guess the Cards is the only team that bring out the best in our guys. My game plan for the Eagles is to tell our guys we're actually playing the Cards again next week. They just changed uniforms but they're the same bird

I really like how well Brooks has played so far. I think our linebackers are set or the next few years and we should start grooming someone to take over for Justin Smith. His motor was going all night long against the Cards, and I think he helped free up Brooks. Smith has consistently pressured the QB, and he's not going to be around in a few more years. I wouldn't take a DE in the 1st round though. We need to solidify the o-line above all other priorities. Overall, I like our linebacker situation, especially with Singletary motivating them to excel.

I was watching Manny last night and he's just a beanpole! It would be one thing if he was making alot of speed plays at the lower weight but he isn't. Agree that Brooks has been looking good!
Also mad props to Takeo Spikes. Man our defense plays a lot better when he's in the game. The guy packs some serious attitude and it gets eveybody fired up.

I loved the attitude our entire defense had last night!

Agreed
It took awhile to get him into shape and play the way Singletary envisioned him to be able to play.
Quote:
Good call: When Singletary decided to insert outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks into the lineup on third down as a pass-rusher, at the expense of Manny Lawson, he knew what he was doing.
Brooks, a four-year veteran, responded with a career-high three sacks, with two of them resulting in strip-fumbles by quarterback Kurt Warner.
"I think out of everyone playing tonight, I'm most proud of him," Singletary said. "We're very fortunate to have him. He's had to work really hard at being a pass-rusher. We saw he had the ability."
