If we run on first down and 2nd down on 80 percent of snaps, will we be good at converting on 3rd downs.
I hope Jimmy Raye can stand up the whole game and be aggressive.

this is a great thread. a very relevant topic to talk about. niners should definitely improve their 3rd down conversion if they want to win the west this year. and considering theyre a run heavy team, they need as many downs as they can get

After the 49ers drafted Anthony Dixon, we watched a few of his highlights. The one that struck me the most was where he leaped over the line and into the endzone. For years, I have wanted the 9ers to have a leaper on the roster. When it's 3rd and one, a flying missile is hard to stop. Properly used, he may help.

What I am hoping for is that Solari/Brown and our revamped oline can do two things and that is to give A. Smith at least 1 more second of pass protection and one more yard on each down. If we can do those two things the over all statistics for third down coversions will improve in significant percentage. With A. Smith knowing the system, having his receivers all through training camp to work with and develop timing, and an improved oline, I see significant improvement in all aspects of our offense including 3rd down conversions.

Have good talents help convert the 3rd downs but to get a better percentage it will come down to good offensive execution by all the guys. That usually takes time, experience and communication. I think we will be better this year just because the guys are together again for another year.
