12 plays to analyze. field positioning were a cause of some but does it still lye on playcalling?? that stat looks/feels like another turnover.

that it does. especially with the lousy field position in the 3rd and 4th.
Players need to make plays. Simple as that. Right now, they are not making plays (mainly the receivers)

We needed better protection on those downs. In obvious passing situations, Smith had no time to throw. Also better play calling. Why throw it deep when all you need is 5 yards. Lastly better execution by the QB and Receivers.

Our receivers need to know where the first down marker is. Few times they ran the right route and were open but came up a foot or a yard short.

Or the refs would mark it 2 yards behind where they caught it.
THose refs were so far in seattles pocket, it wasnt even funny.

3rd down has been a problem all year. Not sure why its a conversation piece this late in the season. 29th in the league in 3rd down conversion %. better only than Buf, KC and Oak. This is not new!

I missed the game. On our final drive, I noticed we tried throwing the ball on first and second, maybe even 3rd with 50 seconds left. Why didn't we run the ball to head to overtime???

that's what happens when you don't run the ball.

We are usually 3d and long. 1st and/or 2d down usually leave us with at least 3d and 6, more often 3d and 8 or more.
On 3d down, we often don't go for the first down -- either the receivers make an 11-yard play on 3d and 12, or we think we're going to fake everyone out with a run on 3d and 8.
We put ourselves in bad position to convert.

Thats the problem w/ a Norv Turner like offense where you are always going for deep throws. Why cant we simply try a combination of things? runs/passes, short passes/deep passes? It seems to me that Singletary and more importantly Jimmy Raye, get caught up in a single way of doing things and cant combine multiple ways. Its odd. But I've never seen a bunch of coaches so inept at the mental side of coaching. I get the physical part and our coaches at being able to do that, but I dont get the utter lack of mental strength (except in Raye's vocabulary).
This is ridiculous, somebody please get us a real offensive coach and maybe even a real head coach. Tired of 10 years of garbage.

Thats because Singletary has no clue on how to do game management. I kept thinking isnt it obvious that your first goal ought to be a first down and if so, then wouldnt a shorter pass (if you believe you cant run) that aims at simply getting the first down would have given you a higher probability of success?
Maybe I simply dont get it. And no, I wasnt thinking of that simply after the play was done (if you're concerned about hindsight). I thought that we would try to get the first down. I blame that call on Raye and secondly on Singletary. Both NEED TO GO now.
