He has not done anything special outside of not muffing it, dropping it, or turning it over...
Anytime he is going to make a catch, there is a coverage team guy right there; how about our return team actually block people and set-up a viable return for whoever is back there?

Brandon Jones as punt returner....

Do nothing but run fast? How about "be able to catch the ball" and "hang onto the ball when he has caught it"?
We have has worse kick returners, believe it or not. Dexter Carter (1st round pick) springs to mind. He was quite fast. Used to cough it up regularly.
Surely we will pick a kr in the 6th or 7th, next year, though

Should have kept Rossum. It's not like there was a better alternative on the roster. Our return game has sucked this year.
preaching to the choir my brotha!
Personally, I think Arnaz Battle would do a better job of returning kicks than anyone on the current roster.
Battle lost us a game when he fumbled it against...was it the Texans? Reggie Smith almost lost a fumble on one of his two returns. Jones hasn't muffed a punt yet.

True - but he has consistently secured horrible field position for us by refusing to understand the fundamentals of punt returning. He either fair catches it inside the 10 (sometimes 5) or tries to return kicks where the coverage is all over him.
He consistenly looks like a guy trying to do wayyyy too much so that he can secure a roster spot somewhere next year.

How about we blame the offense for once, not driving far enough to get punts beyond the 10 or 20 yard line? Has Brandon Jones returned a punt starting beyond the 20 to this point? Is it his fault that the coverage is on him instantly? If he gets some room to run, maybe he'll break one and silence everyone for a change. Sheesh.

This.
It's actually kinda amazing that he hasn't muffed one considering he refuses to call for fair catch, always has a guy tackling him before he can even take a step, and does all this around our own 10 yard line.

To all the Rossum lovers... He wasn't healthy consistently and although he did get picked up, Dallas released him recently, because of that very issue. He was getting up there in years and couldn't stay 100%. Don't know if you noticed, but he was not very good at returns this year. However, that being said, Brandon Jones makes me cringe every time the ball comes his way. I seriously can't believe that we bothered picking him up from the Titans... What does seem strange to me, is how the beat reporters were raving about how good Jones looked in training camp before his shoulder injury. It just seems peculiar how the guy who looked to be standing out the most, has fallen to dead last. Perhaps it has less to do with talent, and more to do with his character and work ethic.
That being said, I'm happy with Crabtree, Morgan, and Hill in there.
