Anyone else notice this? Dashon Goldson not only overruns Jennings 2 yards (despite coming from the side...) but runs into Tarell Brown who also had a terrible angle. Other examples include Chris Johnson's long TD run that got called back when Michael Lewis decided that his 5.1 speed would catch Johnson's 4.25 straight up, and also when Nate Clements and Mark Roman blew the 80 yard TD catch by Roddy White.
The only players who know about Pursuit angles seem to be the Linebackers. Is that reflective of Singletary's coaching of them as the LB coach for all these years? Im getting a little bit sick of the 49ers giving up big plays because our players suck at running down a player.

Its not pursuit angles...on Goldson yesterday, Jennings made a move just as Goldson was getting there and Goldson went flying by and then Roman couldn't flag him down. It was a missed tackle and shows the importance of sure tackling by your safeties.
On Chris Johnson's run, he is just that fast. He makes a lot of guys look bad in trying to catch him. The problem there is letting him get to the 2nd level.
On White's catch, Clements missed the tackle and then White outran Roman. Again, the importance of good tackling.

Yeah. Our angles are based on Madden...all the CPU does is run to where the ball carrier was at 5 seconds ago.

Man......that entire play was downright embarrassing...probably should have gone for 10-12 yards. If Sing wants to motivate his D, he should replay that play before every game and another time at the half.

Roman is the poster child for bad angles. Never seen anyone consistently take bad angles as much as that guy. Then I think it spreads to other plays like DG, ML, SS, and now Brown. When is the last time we've had a good FS? Mert Hanks? That's a long time.

Yes he should. I hope we play much better over these next 6 games.

Goldson is pretty much the opposite of Roman. He's athletic and completely undisciplined whereas Roman is slow but coaches love him because he rarely makes mistakes.
Bottom line is they both suck, just that having Goldson in there means we are giving up huge plays instead of bleeding to death with Roman in there.

Looks like the nutcracker didn't teach these guys about pursuit angles and quite frankly we don't tackle very well period.
