Because Singletary beat up the guys in the off season, they simply worn out.
When Bill Walsh was a coach he did the opposite and gave the players lots of energy going deep into the post season.
Also, don't blame Raye, Singletary is stifling the team by telling the OC to be conservative and being stubborn on being a run first kind of team.
Let's face it, up to this day, if you have an established west coast offense, there is no other offensive scheme that is better in putting up points.
The 49ers will never win another championship until they bring back Holmgren and company. The sooner the better. Let's face it, a great motivational speaker don't really translate into a good game day coach. We gave Singletary a chance but he is not the answer! He is simply a so so NFL coach out in the field.

I am starting to take the blame off Raye a little bit too because it is obvious that when he opens it up a little like he did yesterday and in Houston, the offense is fine. Its when the offense is trying to be the Giants and running straight ahead into a wall that he sucks. At this point, you have to put blame on Singletary.

So 10 games with a rookie head coach (who granted, has made, rookie mistakes), who is dealing with numerous injuries to key starters, yet still has helped us stay to within 7 points in every game that was not a win is "giving him a chance" ?
I may not like everything that is happening, but honestly, Singletary won't be going anywhere, and he shouldn't. If we had a line that could block well in any facet of the game, we'd have more wins than losses right now.
If I were going to make any changes, I'd hire a new OL coach, and revamp the OL.

The Niners are not just a worn out team. They are a team that everyone overrated with many glaring holes. We are 4-6. We beat 1 team that is good and that was the first game of the year when anything can happen. One win was against Seattle at home when Hasselback got knocked out, one win was gift wrapped by Jay Cutler, and one was against a feeble STL team.
Too many bad players, too many injuries, and too many holes, and a horrible offensive philosohy. That is the reason that the Niners are 4-6.

I have been saying this for weeks now. Sing wore these guys out in training camp and now they have hit the wall. There is a reason why teams dont go very hard on the off season. The NFL season is a marathon, not a sprint.

If the Niners keep Singletary I would insist that he hires a new offensive coordintor and a new offfensive line coach. If he refuses, I would let him go.
