Free Frank Gore, Not Alex Smith

Are you guys serious. What has Alex Smith done when we spread the offense? He throws more INTs when we spread it out. The TDs come until we get close enough and then the opposition begins to clamp it down again.

It's funny how if we are up by 21 but end up winning only by 6 or so, it's because we got comfortable with the lead but if we close a 21 point deficit, it's because we are great.

Facts:
1. Frank Gore has had big runs in almost every game he's played in this year.

2. Frank Gore got a big run in this game.

3. Frank Gore only ran the ball 7 times the entire game so save your Alex only threw 7 times in the first half.

4. Alex throws INTs when he airs it out.

At the end of the day, we all know coaching is involved but Alex loses the ball. Also, we cannot overlook the fact that we have, basically, had two bye weeks and haven't been prepared after each one.
yea because that has worked so far. You're as blind as the coaches
Only time the spread works is 2nd half of the games where the defense is playing off. Other than that the spread isn't functional with this team and this o line. that's why you only see the spread when they are losing. When teams are playing soft.
Joe is just trolling now. Nice one.
Can't run gore when your down by 20.
another fact. Gore runs pretty good out of the shotgun

when the defense knows you are going to pass and they still can't stop it, then it will be effective.

So far, JTO had just as much "Potential" as Alex Smith. They both throw INTs when we REALLY need a TD.

Hill sucked also, but he was safer with the ball and provided in crunch time if the game was still attainable.
So I take it the starship is back from the shop then.

Except when its 21-0 or 45-0.
Frank Gore is the best player on this offense and you guys want the spread. We need to find ways to get Frank in better situations than just running up the gut. We also need to throw him the ball a little more in order to spread the defense.

Joe your track record on picking QB's isn't exactly great. So your pretty much the last person to try and convice other posters about who should be the starting QB

and thats y alex looks good, pads his stats and people start thinking hes gonna take us somewhere.
I think the best thing we could do to open the game is to get Vernon Davis the ball down the field. He's our best playmaker. Once he gets going everything else starts to open up. He demands teams to roll their coverage towards him and that leaves one on one oppurtunities for everyone else.

The problem with freeing Frank is that's what the defense is playing to stop. Yeah Frank gets that big run, but every other carry goes for 2 yards.

You dont think Defenses know that.

They would rather have Smith and the passing game attempt to beat them.

We as a team, suck running up the middle and do way better running to the outside, however, the coaches dont seem to want to do that.

Exactly this team just isn't talented enough to do this. Folks are taking late game situations with the team down multiple scores and defense playing soft as what this offense can really do. When the Niners opened it up and played the spread Smith had a turnover party. He doesn't anticipate the WR's breaking in and out of routes. The Wr's don't have enough speed to get consistent separation, and the o line is terrible. notice how VD was nowhere to be seen in the 1st half That was b/c the Packers defense designed a defense to take him out of the game once they had the huge lead they changed there coverage.
