Although I like many things he brings, he's consistently getting out-coached every week, and that has cost us a chance to be a contender. He's got over a year as head coach now...no excuses being a "rookie" any more. Too much talk about how flexibile he is, which is good, but it's too late to save this season.

This year has clearly been a learning year, for Singletary as a head coach. I'm not ready to give up on Sing just yet. However, he has shown to be far more effective leading, than he has at coaching thus far...
I think he needs to ask for some advice, and get himself a mentor in the off-season, to help him with gameday coaching. He's a very intelligent man, and he is capable of getting better at his trade, I believe.
Again though, this year he has made as many mistakes as recievers have made drops. That's just being real.

You tell me why after long weeks to scheme a game we come out horrible. Or why we burn all 3 time outs with 6minutes to go in the first. Or why we can't decide what our identity is week in and week out. That my friend begins with the head.
absolutely!!
It's time for a HC with actual Head Coaching experience burning 3 TOs with over 6 minutes left in the FIRST Quarter, burning a TO on the very first play of the game.
Then calling for a reverse on a punt return that far back in our side of the field was disasterous. We lacked any half time adjustments and seem to sleep walk through the first quarter

It wasn't his team or his personnel last year, he was an interim coach until he was brought on full time at the end of the season. This IS his rookie year as HC....

Coach Nolan was Singletary's mentor for many years, and still does on ad hoc basis.
Besides, how's Singletary going to find a mentor? He is the head coach of a NFL franchise, he can't just approach, say Holmgren and say: I am very intelligent but after 30 years in the business, I don't know how to game plan and game day coaching, can you teach me?

Why can't he? And for the record, Holmgren is not the only guy out there who knows about game day management.
I think it would be a great idea for Singletary to find someone he trusts, and respects, and simply pick his brains. In fact, it may be helpful to ask as many former coaches as possible.
And let's be real. He's not going to say "I am very intelligent but after 30 years in the business, I don't know how to game plan and game day coaching, can you teach me?" He's going to ask specific questions... "Bro this was the situation I was in, what would you have did differently, and why"?
I don't think it's a crazy idea at all, and many successful people in this world have become that way, by having mentors...

why not? Singletary is a honest and straight shooter. He didn't have to lie, he has been in the business for 30 years, and he doesn't know how to do certain things that is under his job description, and he need help to learn them.
