Sherman rooting for him to stick to his guns, Singletary maybe having a chat with him, loss of money and realizing holding out longer is going to cost him more then just game day paychecks? Because I really doubt he just woke up the other morning and said" i guess im just being a dumbass I need to get back with my team."
It sure as hell isn't what Sherman said because VD would be standing his ground instead of indicating he'll just report to TC as normal if he really gave one spit about what Dick Sherman even thought. That guy can kiss my ass. Vernon's smart enough to realize there's really no leverage on his part so he'll just move on & deal with it in another year.
It's very possible that this "holdout" was just a means for Vernon to grab more attention in order to promote his deal with Fantex. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Fantex pays him for the money lost at camp and VD gets attention for "holding out." Kinda brilliant actually.
Stock value is based on the earnings of the corporation. In this case VD is the corporation. To the extent that he has lost a part of his earnings that is to partly go to his investors, then his stock price should fall.
Also most of the press was negative in my opinion, with regards to his future investors - the 49er fans who bought (or will buy) his stock. Most 49er fans were not happy with his decision to skip mandatory OTA's.
Also lucrative endorsement deals, I think, are key to making his stock price go up, and I have yet to see a news article that says because of his holdout, he got a lucrative endorsement deal.
