Skilled talent on the field allows a coach to be successful. We are not yet there talent-wise so it would be foolish to shuffle coaches again at this point. I think that the GM should be on a shorter leash than the coaching staff. First as VP of Player Personnel starting in 2005 and then as GM since 2008 he has had 4 years to build a playoff contender. IMHO we still have a ways to go. If it doesn't happen by next year then you have to decide if the problem is the man getting the talent of the man coaching the talent. Right now I'm on Sing's side.

I think it is prudent to time the firing of a below-average coach to when an above-average coach becomes available. There is no doubt in my mind that some of the best coaches in the NFL are (ironically) currently not coaching.
Schottenheimer
Shanahan
Holmgren
Gruden
Cowher
Martz
Billick
All but Schottenheimer have won superbowls, and Marty is no slouch.
But, we have Singletary now and we are married to him for a minimum three years. And frankly I think he is doing a good job. The only move I disagreed with him with was firing Martz.
Schottenheimer, are you serious?

Every time I mention this no one comments, so I guess no one agrees with me? When Mooch got canned, I though it was because a big name was available, and then they brought in Erickson, a proven loser at the NFL level.
To be fair, you have to consider who was available at the time.
I don't think there were too many coaches out there when Nolan was hired.

let singletary find his way. He is not as stubborn as you think and the guy has a real desire and passion to become a great head coach. Let jimmy stay another season but let mike johnson call the plays so he can get some experience and get ready to take over as oc.

The coaches are obviously dumb dumber and stupid. Incompetent and inept. They need real coaches not wannabes and a zombie with a tape instead of a brain.

They need to hire a proven GM with a modern philosophy. No more huge, SLOW offensive linemen, and big SLOW running backs (even Gore only runs a 4.6), and big SLOW wideouts, and big slow safeties, and big, SLOW-minded quarterbacks.
Then hire a new, fresh, offensive-minded head coach who understands that you can't just physically beat you opponents, you also have to out-quick, and out-scheme your opponents.
