Who is the core of this team? We think Gore, Staley, maybe Crabtree and Davis on Offense. On Defense, Willis and ?????
This is the crux of this season, who do we go forward with. Some we are stuck with. But really looking at this team we are not that talented. We have a QB who in the past has shown he has a plethora of skills but doesn't see the field. We have another QB who can see the field but has little talent other than managing. We have unproven wide receivers and an Oline that would have trouble blocking my grandma.
On Defense we have an ALL WORLD linebacker in Willis but the rest of the squad would be 2nd stringers on the great teams and like with us, starters on mediocre defenses. I will have to give this to Manusky, He has schemed well in devising a defensive game plan that fits the strengths of these players.
I am hoping that like Manusky, Raye in a followup year will turn things around on Offense. We have two first round picks, one of which I would hope is used to fill the RT spot.
Being patient is not something that fans can easily do, especially after the past 7 years yet that is what we need to be.
Go Niners.
What he said.

By bringing in four new offense coaches below him we set the table for his graceful retirement.
1) New QB coach
2) New Wide Receivers coach
3) New Offensive line coach
4) New assistant Offensive coordinator
We should aggressively target young assistant coaches from successful Collage programs, as well as some "quality control" coaches and other low level assistants from the pro ranks. A coaching staff is like a team and you need depth, the larger the staff the better.
This maybe a recipe for disaster my friend

The only offensive coach that I would look to replace this offseason is Chris Foerster. If Raye is going to be replaced, he should be replaced by Mike Johnson, and I have a feeling that will happen after next season anyway.

Keep him. His playcalling probably reflects more of Singletary's desire to keep it on the ground more thank his own desire to call the plays he feels will ultimately be effective.

I openly complained about his lack of creativity, but he also can improve once playmakers emerge and give him more options to attack the defense, Davis and Gore will be even more effective once Crabtree, Hill, Coffee and Morgan come into their own and grow with the offense.
So with that said it we should let him have a 2nd year as OC and groom his replacement in the process, the offense can only improve with a second year of the same system

In my opinion, our best OCs were in this order. Best to worst:
Turner
Raye
Martz
McCarthy
Hostler
Raye hasn't been great this year, but he hasn't been BAD. I see progress in what we are doing. And I think if we can go through an offseason with Smith already the starter.. no qb competition, Crabs going through a real offseason.. and an offseason that we don't need to install a BRAND new playbook.. just add some nice things to it.. I think we will have a huge boost the next year.
BESIDES.... REALLY.. come on now.. with our o line play and injuries.. what more were you expecting??? I REALLY REALLY hope we spend both our 1st rounders on the o line. Our o line is AWFUL.

Keep him unless Turner is available.
Either way we get screwed. If we let him go, we have to learn a new system. If he stays then we're the same ass soft niners on offense. fire Raye and fire Singletary lets get some real coaches in this B$TCH!!!!!!!

Im just as angry about our O as anyone else but i think Sing has something to do with rayes playcalling, Sing gets the lead and takes the conservative approach. I think in time when the O shows it can execute on a constant basis Sing will let Raye open it up more. Who knows maybe im wrong and raye just sux that bad....

I dont like his game-planning or play-calling. He doesnt make adjustments fast enough to keep up or stay ahead of the opponent.
I would keep Raye. One, for consistency's sake, second, because I believe there will be progress.
Yes, the play-calling has been sub-par. The playcalling seems to be great during our first drives (e.g. Tennessee and Chicago), but then trails off into conservative oblivion.
I do think, however, Sing is realizing the potential of a spread offense due to the fact that our personnel fit it the best, and that everyone is falling in love with Crabtree's potential. Plus, VD is having the best year of his career so far, and I think the staff will realize the importance of a spread for this team.

Only if Alex is the starter.
