basically says we should've sat him for a year or 2, without actually saying he would've changed Nolan's decision. But he says it helps a young QB's development.

Would he have practiced what he preached if Favre left Green Bay before his first season as head coach? Things that make you go hmmm.

Are you saying what he said is obvious to everyone who saw what happened or to everyone who clicked the link? I just said that for a summary in case people didn't want to read the whole article. As to what he's actually saying, yeah it was obvious to most people and all but some people still say it's an excuse though...

it is a pointless argument, because you can never prove anything one way or the other.
Personally, I think the very best teacher is real playing time. Thats how you learn. Its just like anything else.....you read something in a book and kind of get it, but when you apply those theories or practices is when it really sinks in. Nobody has ever effectively convinced me that somehow NFL quarterbacking is different.
I do agree with the excuses about the various coordinators and about not getting him weapons or a good line...those are valid excuses. The whole sitting vs playing debate.....thats just peoples opinion

That is a real good question. I kind of doubt it. NFL coaches need to win or they are not going to be around to develop the QB. But under ideal conditions (which don't happen that often - epecially since the top QB prospects are chosen by bad teams) it would be nice to let a QB sit and learn. Probably would have been best for Stafford and Sanchez: but they were not put into ideal conditions. You put a rookie with the an established team like the Ravens or Steelers it might work out okay. Place them on a weak team like the Lions and it is going to be tough. Some do okay but probably most could have benefitted from sitting for a bit. Didn't the Bengals sit Palmer (a tremendous talent) his whole first year?

there is no ranking within the groupings. For all practical reasons, they all suck equally
