We should run the offense almost exactly how we ran it during the Titans game.
That was a well called game. That game does not go on Jimmy Raye's shoulders.
In that game we had plenty of opportunities to score TD's. Gore had lots of space to run for ONCE this season because the defense backed off.
We will have the best chance to develop into a good team if we call every game like that. Of course, if you would rather play it safe, like we did in the second half of the Chicago game, then enjoy all the nail-biters.
Good teams WIN games. We "survive" them.

If we have a good off season, we will be able to put teams away, I think the offensive line is making Raye nervous about opening it up.

I'd put Alex in the shotgun more. He's more comfortable. It gives him better field vision. It also gives him extra time before he's got pressure. His completion percentage is better in the shotgun. I'd also run more out of the shotgun (and not by putting Moran Norris in for FB--that signals run play like nothing else). By having more plays from the shotgun it also gives our receivers better chance to get down field, so instead of 10 or 15 yards we can do 20 or 30 yard pass plays.
We actually have a really good running play that we run from under center where VD is lined up on the right side of the line (like a down lineman) and everybody blocks the man to their left. Baas pulls from the left side and hits the open hole.
Everytime we run it we get positive yardage. (This was the play that Gore scored in on Thursday night). I'd like to see us try to run it from shotgun. I think that with that half a second extra time Gore can spot the open lane easier or bounce outside for bigger gains.
I also want to see more pitches and sweeps. We don't do hardly any of those and when we do they're pretty effective.

The first thing I would do is increase the size of the Shotgun package. Alex thrived against Houston in the Shotgun, yet we continually have him under center. Alex has a habit of staring down his WRs during his dropback. Gore's direct snap against Chicago came out of the gun and was probably his longest run of the night, so the running game excuse isn't sufficient. Plus, it's not like our power offense yielded much success on the ground anyway.
I don't want to sound like a broken record, but OCs irritate me so much by not using the Shotgun more. I blame their egos because the Gun is widely viewed as a college-style offense. However, if you watch Brady, Manning and Brees you'll see plenty of Shotgun and 3 WRs sets, especially in NE.
WR Corps: I like Bruce, but he's not producing anymore and shouldn't play unless he's giving someone a breather. He's dropping the ball too often and just seems uninterested. Morgan is inconsistant and Jason Hill has been surprisingly productive when he's been on the field. I'd like to see more 3 WRs formations with Jason Hill (and starters, Crabtree and Morgan) in there. I wouldn't mind seeing Hill slide outside, with Crabtree moving into the slot on occassion. Crabtree isn't a deep threat, so I wouldn't bother sending him deep. He excels underneath in a quick passing attack.
Oh, and I would've petitioned for Sheets over M-Rob. Robinson doesn't add anything to our offense and he's not spectacular on special teams either. I know he's the captain of the unit, but McKillop and Battle have outplayed him. Robinson is expendable and Sheets gave us some much needed speed
Oline: I think Sims has been a nice surprise at LT. Baas sucks, but I don't know that Wragge would be an upgrade. We're stuck with him for the rest of the year. Heitmann has played well, but not as well as I expected him too. Rachal has been better as of late. His problems are mental. I think he just needed to be reminded that his job isn't secure. I don't forsee any changes at RG either. At RT, wow, what a mess. I think Pashos would've worked out for us, but that's a moot point.
I think the Shotgun would help the Oline in protection because it gives them a little space, like a buffer. Snyder and Rachal generally get beat immediately if it's going to happen. In the Gun, the lineman are able to dropback a bit, which allows them to get their hands on the pass rusher.
I've been unimpressed with Baas since we drafted him. Really though, I was stunned that we didn't sign Brandon Moore from the Jets. He's a reliable, veteran OG and would've came at a reasonable price.

I'd run the spread offense mainly.

Only thing I would do differently is be more agressive when up by less than a TD.

Pass to set up the run. And when the opposing defenses are expecting a pass play, run the ball outside instead of up the gut. Once opposing defenses learn to respect our passing offense, run to set up the pass. In other words, become totally unpredictable.

Sims has been great at LT. I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him at LT and moving Staley to RT, or vice versa. Baas is ok. Not star material, but decent. Next game pay attention to where the pressure is coming from--most of it is form the right side. Rachal is mediocre to poor and Snyder is just terrible. Who knows how Tony Pashos is.

I'd run lots of delayed screens to Frank Gore to slow their pass rush and Vernon across the middle on wes welker like routes. For Crab I'd run a ton of quick outs and try and set up a double move later in the game. For our running game I'd try and run out of the spread early in the game and slowly go from spread to singleback double TE to I formation if we're ahead.
For our passing downs I'd look for some easy 3-5 yard passes but for second and shorts I'd look to stretch the field with some long bombs to Hill or Crab.

Let's not forget Davis, who's arguably the fastest player on the team. His route running is much improved. I'd love to see some more play-actions. Have Crabtree, Hill, and Davis bust some double moves from time to time. Short passes are all fine and dandy, but every once in a while it helps to hit on a big play. I know the OL sucks, but it's worth a try.

I would pass to set up the run, more focus on a quick passing game and attack the middle of the field with slot receivers and the TE.
I would use the I formation and throw to the FB a little more with Walker or Robinson at FB, but we must establish the pass and then catch them slipping with the run game, more running plays out of a 3 or 4 WR package.
I'd like to see more 4 WR sets with the QB under center, sometimes were a little too predictable and we need to get that 8th man out of the box if were gonna run the ball up the middle, so naturally once our passing game is a threat, it would loosen up the box a little and give our RB's more space to make plays, when we repeatedly send our RB's up the middle without a threat of punishing them with the passing game is like sending our RB's into a buzzsaw.
Just my two cents

No arguments there. Our right side is awful. I have very little faith in Chilo and Snyder.
As for Sims at LT. I doubt the staff would even consider it, but could make some sense. Sims played amazing against Freeney, so leaving him there wouldn't be bad. Staley would bring some stability RT.
Realistically though, I think we have to draft a RT early. We can't afford to go into next season without some more talent at the position.
When Staley returns in a few weeks, Sims will probably get some looks at RT; although, he's had his troubles there in the past. Hopefully, he's developed beyond that and can take the job away from Snyder. Snyder needs to stand next to Wragge on the sidelines. They're solid backup OGs, little more.
