We all hated Sims before Staley went down. He was terrible last year. But he's been decent this year; better than Snyder. When Staley gets back I hope they sit Snyder & move Sims to RT. Snyder is horrible.

He should be at RT - I don't care how comfortable he feels there. Snyder is a disaster there.
I'd rather have a high schooler there than Snyder.

Try him at RT again. If he fails, put him as a backup at LT.

This^ I would also tell him to mentally prepare himself to move there once Staley gets back. We can't switch Staley back to RT for a guy like Sims it would have to be a big time player to move him because of the contract we gave him and the need to give him some consistency.

I concur. He's played pretty well at LT but that doesn't mean he'll play well at RT. Our best course of action, in my opinion, is to allow Staley to regain his LT position when he gets healthy and then have Sims go back to the bench. Staley is our best hope at RT. He trained there all offseason so he has had time there. He just has to play better. In this coming offseason, we HAVE to address the OL via the draft. Its time to get our OL solidified once and for all.

Obviously we tell Joe Staley to get his overpaid ass back to RT.

Who cares how he feels, he can't be worse than Snyder.

I'm sorry man, but I don't agree at all. It is painfully obvious that Snyder cannot handle the starting RT spot. He plays AVG AT BEST and BELOW AVG the majority of the time. Snyder has allowed defenders to cause countless hurries, hits, sacks, run stuffs, etc. In my humble opinion, he is a better guard or back-up tackle.
I know I'll get alot of flak for this, but I'm gonna say it anyway. Sims has been great over the past few games. Almost good enough to keep him at LT when Staley returns. I know everybody loves Staley on this board, but the guy isn't anything special at LT. Now, I know this will never happen, but I'd like to see Sims STAY at LT and have Staley move to RT when he gets healthy. Sims plays better from the left side, which is obvious if you've ever seen him play RT. Sims has even said he perfers the left side over the right.
Like I said, this will never happen. But I feel like the best O-line the Niners can field this year is Sims at LT with Staley at RT.
At the very least, Sing should give Sims a chance at RT when Staley returns. He has got to do something, cause this HORRIBLE O-line is KILLING our offense.
Now que the "this isn't Madden" and "you don't know anything about playing tackle" replies.

This, and I don't care how much we are giving him, Put the 5 best linemen we have in the best position to win. I feel Staley would do a much better job at RT than sims would and only a little better job than sims would do at LT, IF sims continues to play at the level he is currently playing at!

If Sims continues to do well at LT I'd leave him there and then put Staley at RT when he's healthy. Staley might have to move back to RT anyway if we sign a better player in the off-season.

is there some reason why we refuse to sign an above average veteran OL in the offseason every year? and no, Jonas Jennings doesnt count. someone GOOD.
our line has been "gelling" for way too long now. Heitmann and Staley are all we got. Baas and Snyder arent progressing like we'd hoped. just 1 quality f/a T would make this line so much better. then theres only 2 weaker spots instead of 3.

Remember when everyone was complaining about Sims at RT. He sucked. Allowed sacks at the worst possible times. Seems to be doing pretty good a LT. Leave Sims on the left side at put Staley at RT when he comes back from injury. Don't know what Sims age is, but probably need to be looking for another tackle in the draft.
