It is really hard to tell. With Alex he's never had a good line all the time he's been here. So we don't really know. Overly simplistic posters just say it's all the QB and Alex sucks. But he's had one of the worst lines in the league for all his time and it contributed to 2 season ending injuries.
It's ironic our line got a slight bit better and then Staley gets hurt and now Alex gets his "2nd chance." Now we have 2 OT's who can't block and 2 OG's who can't block. How can anybody succeed behind that?

seriously this offseason besides staley and heitmann we need a completely overhaul our o line
We need at least 3 new starters and maybe 4 plus a backup guy at Tackle because our Tackles never make it through a full season.
The bottom line is he would be better than he is now. Some of the timing issues are even LINE RELATED. People say he throws too early or the timing is off. Well HE HAS TOO! IMO we are a decent NFL team with a POP WARNER O LINE and a terrible pass rush. That's really our biggest problems.

Alex has a bad line and he probably is better than eli.... but IMO Joe flacco is a pretty good QB. his game against the vikings he threw some pretty good passes while getting hit.. buuutttt im still pulling for smith to come out on top.... or the niners cut their losses.. either way
