2 of those picks should have been caught...plain and simple.
Plus you can't just throw out everything with one bad half of football. THis was a team loss, everyone shares in it.
Bad games happen, but it's clear that this offense is progressing, we may need an offseason to get an extra piece on the line or two and maybe one more playmaker, but this offense has a chance to be very good, with Alex at QB.

U know Eugene Parker is kicking himself for giving into US at 3-1 imagine his leverage now! Also, I am tired of losing so so so so tired of Losing. We need a REAL COACH ala either MIKE HOLMGREM or MIke Shanahan.

So who should be starting? Shaun Hill? Nate Davis? How about we stop worrying about who our QB is and get some f**king linemen in there that can block somebody?
In an ideal situation, we'd have found some lineman by now who can block (and stay healthy, for that matter), and we'd have a better QB than any of the 3 behind center by now. I'm at a point, myself, that I'd like to explore what Nate Davis can do for us, just because we are now at a point that we know that neither Hill or Smith are franchise-quality quarterbacks. If not, we'll likely have a high enough pick to get a QB who can develop into a franchise QB. I'm disappointed that neither Hill or Smith has shown us anything really worthwhile this season.
See I don't understand this. Didn't we learn with Smith that when you place a young QB behind a terrible OL it rattles his confidence.
This OL isn't even ideal anymore;
Let's just say it. The 49ers have THE WORST offensive line in the entire league. I saw a last place team today give their QB more time than we did ours and it's been like this all season so all you "well if Staley were out there folks, please give me a break.
The OL beyond sucks. And as much as some of you would like to see Nate Davis, it's like playing the game with no helmet. Why do that?
I still can't quite comprehend why this o-line is as bad as it is.

The only thing has brought to this team since he started this year is turnovers. I don't wnat hill in because I want to know that smith is a bust... Or not!

i think it's time to stop finding excuses why he's playing like he is! it's his O-line, it's his wr positionING, it's this. its that! NO MORE EXCUSES!
1td, 3int, 2 fumbles... he is not the FUTURE!
Take a few deep breaths man. I have been a critic of Alex's and yea he struggled today. That said, he gives us the best chance to win and considering our O line gives us the worst chance to win that is saying a lot. You cannot excuse the fact that there were times he had people on him before he completed his drops. Call them excuses, I call them a reality. I may be wrong but most of his problems (outside of the oline) look to be timing/chemistry with his receivers.
Initially I was posting his career was over in SF everywhere I could, after cooling down and sobering up a bit , he had a poor showing today with an assist from Morgan and Crabtree and the O Line. Singletary would be a fool to put Hill in , Davis can't be ready so Smith has an opportunity to redeem himself starting with Chicago in four days at this point they need to see if he can be the guy or do they need to look eleswhere, honestly this team is a joke
This kind of game was bound to happen to Alex. I am very interested in seeing how he (and the team) repsonds against the Bears. That will be far more telling then how he/they played in this game. The problem is that the cards are stacked against him. Our O line is the worst that I have ever seen on any team ever (they look even worse then his rookie oline). I bet the Bears front 4 are licking their chops. The Sky is not falling just yet. If anyone really thought we were a Superbowl bound team, they were sorely mistaken. We are and have been at best a 8-8 team and that is not out of the question yet. While this does hurt, at least we have something to look forward to.

Now, let me first establish that I was sitting in section 28 and rooting for as the whole way. Then comes reality! I was so close to being on the bandwagon, I think I was blinded. Ceadder and b650, the ultimate as fanboys, are not looking so hot. AS decieved us all! He attempted to show he was "different".
Now, he showed what he has always been. I mean that fumble was like "wow" "wow" and more "wow". I am now walking far behind the bandwagon that many are on, hoping that it is worth the effort of running to catch up to...
I have always thought that Alex was a bust from Day One...for a few weeks he lulled me into thinking there was hope...I wish I had been at the game today so I could have thrown garbage on his head!

simply put anyone who blames smith alone is retarded and has very little football knowledge. week in and week I get a good laugh and you all blaming him. I'm not saying he is montana, but he is our best qb period. but even if montana was here we would be seeing the same results. You gotta have protection.

I am a total Alex Smith Supporter - And feel he is the QB that gives us the best chance for us to win - but today's loss is on his shoulders - 2 really bad INT's just inexcusable - he just stared down Delanie Walker on the first one - and while the 2nd and the killer was certainly catchable that ball should have been lower.
Just a bad day for Alex. No Excuses here. Could others have played better sure but Alex gets the lion share of the blame today.
We should have won this game - strike that we HAD to win this game and gave it away AGAIN. The offense does show potential that 9 minute drive was a thing of beauty.
