I think the rest of this season will be about player and coach evaluation.
If, at the end of this season we know that A. Smith and Coach Sing are the real deal, then fans should be happy regardless of the record/playoffs. Oline talent can be found next year hopefully but if the QB and Head Coach don't prove themselves, it will be another painfull year in 2010.

we have a slim chance because and if
1- the cards stumble three in a row against tennessee vikings and us
2- we play our best football the rest of the way

I can't say were out of the playoffs but by the look of the offensive line and total offense its unlikely. But I still like were the team is headed. Ive seen more from this team then the last 6 years. We're getting to be a highly competitive team and even this years team can play and beat any team that's out there. You couldn't say that about the 9ers in the past few years. Yes we need to resolve the o-line issues and get constant play from a better QB (either Qb we have isn't the answer) But we are getting there IMO

I saw the same things in 2006 and 2008. It's time to actually do something. After 7 years, you get tired of moral victories.
If we don't finish with at least an 8-8 record, I want wholesale changes.

Wholesale changes pretty much means 2 or more years of rebuilding yet again.
Thing is the Yorks are stuck in some odd place between rebuilding and patch-working with no real commitment to winning.

I'm talking mostly about the GM, coaches, the OL, etc. Winning starts from the top, and I don't think we have winners there. Jimmy Raye? What the hell has he done in his career to have the opportunity to call himself a 49ers offensive coordinator? Singletary seems like a deer in headlights right now. We aren't out-coaching anyone. We're winning, despite the coaching. That doesn't bod well for this team, or any team.
If we can't get to .500, I'd fire the GM and the OC, and do whatever it takes to bring in guys who can block for our QB.
Shanahan would be a great fit here, in my opinion. We need proven winners at the top. I might even go as far as firing Singletary just to get Shanahan in here as a HC and OC. Maybe it seems overly dramatic, but when you've been losing for 7 years, dramatic changes need to happen. I don't want to lose out on a Holmgren or a Shanahan and go through another 7 years of losing.
