We all know that Sims is not the future, so I say play Boone

So it doesn't matter that he doesn't have the experience or knowledge to start?

This isn't mini camp or pre-season. A blown assignment could mean a season end injury to a Alex Smith or Frank Gore. If the coaching staff doesn't seem to think he's ready, I wouldn't campaign to see it happen.

agreed... playoffs are not out of sight just yet... let the guy grow
Boone is getting time everyday working against guys like Justin Smith and Sop. Apparently the coach who are there to observe him everyday feel that a FA pickup from another team is better than Boone is now.

I'll go with the coaches decision on this one.

Well the coaching staff didn't think he was ready so they went out and got the dude from the Chiefs practice squad instead. That alone should tell you all you need to know.

Not sure how good a Tackle he would be, but if our Guards keep getting driven back into the backfield, then he should be given a shot at Guard

It would be nice if Boone had a future, but this is not the time to find out

yeah but the best time to find out about your future is when you starter goes down,

ie: Michael Strahan to Justin Tuck

Justin Tuck was a third round pick who sat behind Strahan for two seasons.

Alex Boone is an undrafted free agent with eight weeks of practice squad experience.

Bad example.

I agree. I wouldn't mind seeing what he has next year, but not this year. Sims deserve a couple starts, Until he EFF's up!!!
"The free alex boone thread" hahaha, thanks for making my day pal. LMAO
Did you watch him in preseason? He didn't look that good. This is about the 5th time I'll say it, he's a big-time project and is lucky that he even has a job in the NFL.
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

If he was ready to start, I'm sure the coaches would have thought twice before they decided to pick up a what would be 4th stringer from the street.

Let's see, we started this offseason with Jonas Jennings to Adam Snyder to Marvel Smith to Tony Pashos to ...

Man, we are doing a damn good job considering.
I bet 49erman5692 is really Alex Boone
