I freaked out on that penalty. Yes it was called on Morgan, but Vernon was the one standing there, acting like he was the man. That did lead to a field goal. And you know what? If they didnt get a field goal, the score would have been 15-14. When we drove down to their 35 yard line, we wouldnt have had to try and pass the ball deep, which resulted in a sack. I dont care what you guys say. The penalty was absolutely un-acceptable.

what are you talking about?

the penalty was on Morgan....he went to the ground....players are not allowed to go to the ground for a TD celebration....its the same thing as when the colts player picked off a pass and scored and slid a couple weeks ago....

If a player goes to the ground in a celebration there will be a penalty.....Davis Posing was fine...If Morgan would have squatted instead of taking a knee there would have been no penalty
There were three players involved - any one of them could have been flagged.

As team captain, Davis must accept responsibility for perpetuating the celebration.

This was not a good game for Davis despite the TD catch. In addition to the celebration, which allowed an easy field goal for the Colts, he also dropped a very catchable pass and failed to even attempt to drag his foot to stay inbounds when it would have been easy to do so.

Please be kidding
Not at all. A team captain is a leader who leads by example as well as verbally.

As we all know, Davis has had many issues with excesses on the field in the past. Though he appeared to have gotten beyond all that, this last game was a regression. Davis, of all people, should be well aware of the rules and how to stay clear of them.

lol, there is a difference between leading & babysitting. Leaders should not have to be babysitters. ALL players in this league are adults & should know the rules. Interesting that the head coach talked about Morgan being at fault for that penalty & no one else. Singletary said that before he could even see what happened, Isaac Bruce (a veteran who was also in the mix), came up & apologized for the players' celebration.

But somehow this is about one guy, who was not the one penalized?

lol. Yeah, I hate those cocky playmaker type of guys. They really need to clean house, and get to where they were before Davis was on the team, with a bunch of humble no-name guys that we will never have to worry about doing a touchdown dance, or not ever see any articles written about them in the paper (good or bad).

I hear ya on that note. It looks pretty damn silly when these guys act like they just won the Superbowl after scoring a touchdown while losing regular season game.

Well, to his credit, the celebration came after increasing their lead from 1 point, to 8 points.

But still, his TDs celebration would have been fine if he did that by himself. The group thing, whoever started it, should not have happened
You guys really act like those measly yards would have stopped Peyton from driving down the field and getting a FG. Please

It was the combination of the penalty and the good kick return. If the Colts are almost at midfield with 30 seconds left and 3 time outs, you better believe Peyton will try to score

...and that is my entire point.

Good teams do not shoot themselves in the foot with juvenile actions like that.

And yes, team leaders/captains DO need to be babysitters, if that what you want to call it, so young players understand what it takes to win. I can just imagine what Harris Barton or Guy McIntyre or Ronnie Lott would have said to Davis and Morgan after they received that penalty. It would not have been pretty nor would it be fit to print.
