He should know he was a late bloomer his self and vert smart like Alex he has his Law Degree.
to be honest. I wanted the Niners to draft a QB in 2006, it was obvious we were going to draft high again. Back in March of 2005, I was excited about 2006, but NOT 2007.

In March of 2005 I was posting to wait for Leinart.....but I am an SC fan.

BUT

By March of 2006 I like Cutler best out of all 3.

After Cutler, the only QB I liked was Sanchez.....so I totally missed on Ryan and Flacco

how do you explain the bad throws? fumbles at the snap?

How do you explain picking him number one over all.

who else were we supposed to pick

Most ridiculous argument I ever hear in the Alex debate. Every single position was a position of need. Does Ronnie Brown or Braylon Edwards ring a bell? How about Ware, Merriman or Rolle? shoot how about Benson? Hows about Roddy White? Jammal Brown?

who else were we supposed to pick?

Yeah, that's not using hindsight much.

Guess what genius, the people actually doing the drafting, don't have the benefit of hindsight. They don't have a crystal ball, which apparently you do.

I really think the Patriots have that crystal ball

No they just have a system that they can pretty much plug anyone into and be successful.

Bill is a warlock, trust me I read a book on this once.

Is it a late bloomer when you're stuck on the bench behind Montana? I mean seriously, Steve would have started on ANY other team 2-3 years before he did for us.

How do you explain Steve Young's bad throws? Fumbles at the snap in Tampa Bay? Later on being a Pro Bowler and winning the Super Bowl. Explain that. Young wasn't good until what. 7 years in the league or something.

I think you would still consider Young a late bloomer because even when he started to compete with Joe, he was well into his unremarkable career

How about Rogers.I think he is doing pretty good

he was also in a different situation that what Smith went through. Put Rodgers in the same BS that Nolan did to Smith and you have the same outcome.

yeah............right.

You kidding me? The guy sat behind Brett Favre for 3 years and barely saw the light of day. He had an eternity to digest an offense from the same coordinator.

Smith was thrown into the game day 1 behind one of the worst OLs in Niner history and got his shoulder destroyed and had a coach who didn't care. Not to mention the ever revolving door at offensive coordinator.

And you want to say Rodgers would succeed under those conditions? Please child.

This.

He's now a 25 year football player. I don't understand how people could be so mystified about his emergence all of the sudden.

This too.

So you are telling me that if we had drafted Rodgers we would have had a super start QB from day 1? this must be your first year watching football

Wait, wasn't Young clowning on Alex saying he was a bust in the past?

No. But if you're going to tell me that starting a QB during his rookie year is detrimental to his development, then maybe its you that is naive, not I.......

he just said he didn't think he had the mechanics to be a dangerous QB in the league.

It can be detrimental depending on the team and the personnel around him.
