Nate will not be cut... but I could see him becoming a safety.

he's getting cut soon, he'll be making too much money

He can also restructure, like Fitzgerald.

His original contract was designed to make his agent look good. Not so we would pay him infinity billion dollars in the final years.

$80 million dollar safety.. hmm he better be a really good safety!

I would preferable go with a young hard-hitting, ball hawking safety from the draft.. *cough cough, Taylor Mays...e-hem*

But back to the topic, I'm glad we're keeping Tarell Brown. I don't think this kid has even had a chance to really show his potential yet. Since he's been around, he's been overshadowed by Walt Harris, and the big contract of Nate Clements.

I personally think Brown is a better CB than Spencer.

But Go niners!

Spencer is pretty good. He always seems like he's in good position and has good height. Haven't seen enough out of Brown yet.

Seriously, what's with all the Nate hate? He's doing well for us.

22-Nate Clements: He rebounded with a very good game after giving up that 90-yard pass to Roddy White in the previous game. He was on Andre Johnson for a good portion of the game, and he did not allow Johnson off the line of scrimmage. Johnson did not catch a pass against Clements while he was in man coverage. The only play Clements surrendered in coverage was perfectly thrown "out" to Daniels on a third-and-6 in the fourth quarter.

Nate says hi.

I laugh when anybody ever mentions this.

From Maiocco:
--Singletary was asked if there's been any thought to some day moving Nate Clements to safety. His answer: "That's not in the realm of thinking right now."

He's a solid nickel or dime corner that helps us match up against the Steve Breaston's of the world.

Good extension by the Niners.
The 49ers confirmed that they have given cornerback Tarell Brown -- the team's No. 4 cornerback this year -- a three-year extension. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN, the deal is for three years and $7.125 million contract. The deal includes a $2.5 million signing bonus, and it will pay Brown $800,000 in 2011, $850,000 in 2012, and $925,000 in 2013. That means Brown is signed through 2013. The team's other CBs and their contract statuses (stati?)

Dre Bly - signed through 2009
Nate Clements - signed through 2013
Walt Harris - signed through 2009
Marcus Hudson - signed through 2009
Shawntae Spencer -- signed through 2012

we're probably going to end up drafting a cb

It will be interesting to see if we resign Bly or Hudson or both

His salary is getting to high towards the end of this contract. Either he is going to have to take a pay cut or he is gonna be gone.
