Wrong.
You might be thinking of when Lawson or Haralson puts a hand down, but that doesn't constitute a true 4-3. Scheme are about assignments and not how many guys are at the line of scrimmage. Again, this really shows your lack of football knowledge.
I guess we could make the argument that that the team is a 6-3 in goal line situations with your logic.

Bad idea you you would be weaking our defense. The strength of our defense is our linebackers and in your propsed move you to gain more pressure on the quaterback you want to leave our best pass rusher in Paryas Haralson on the bench and try to move Spikes to outside linebacker. Or would you leave Haralson in and put Spikes on the bench? Either way you would be leaving one of our top 11 defenders on the bench. I think we should be bring Willis on blitzes more often! In the Rams games they brought him on several plays and he had 2.5 sacks. They weren't letting him blitz in the first half and we got no pressure but they started lettng him go at the QB in the 2nd half and he was in Shaub face every time. Our defense is our strength and we should not be changing schemes in the middle of the season, Nolan was constantly changing between a 3-4 and a 4-3 and it obviously didn't work. One big problem has been identified and it was the communication on the plays coming in form the sideline. Willis is very talanted but it seems like we finally fgound something that he can't do, which is call the correct audibles or be the defensive QB. That's fine they will be giving the earpiece to Spike, which should solve the problem. Also if the offense gives the D some time to rest you can see the results immeaditely in the 1st half the D gave up 21 points being on the field all the time. In the 2nd half we had possesion of the ball most of the time and the D gave up only 3 points to a very good offense and that was mostly on the strength of 1 great play by Johnson. So don't start getting too worried the D will be fine if the Offense can just do it's part and score and keep possesion, which will give the D some time to rest because I don't care how good you are if you are tired you can't play as well!

LDE-Ray McDonald
LDT-Isaac Sopoaga
RDT-Justin Smith
RDE-Ahmad Brooks
WLB-Parys Haralson
MLB-Patrick Willis
SLB-Manny Lawson
FS- Dashon Goldson
SS- Mark Roman'
CB- Shawntae Spencer
CB- Nate Clements
I would use this 4-3 alignment strictly for pass rushing purposes, but we cant switch to the 4-3 now, it's too late, but we can give them a 4-3 look from time to time IMO, but Manusky and Sing arent fond of running a hybrid defense like Nolan did, and feel the 3-4 gives us the best chance to win.
But this defense is built for the 3-4, any DE's would have to be converted OLB's for the 4-3, and we would run into trouble trying to stop the run
